Are you always on the lookout for scenic places to trek? In an attempt to promote eco-tourism, the Administrative Council approved the new trekking routes in areas protected by the Wildlife Department in coordination with Tourism Department.

The New Trekking Routes Will Promote Eco Tourism In J&K
The Administrative Council also approved the opening-up of existing infrastructure of the Forest Department including rest houses and inspection huts to tourists and wildlife enthusiasts. This move will help promote eco-tourism in the forest hinterland without disturbing the ecological balance in the protected areas.

Tourists Can Stay In Forest Rest Houses Amid Nature
Tourists can book any one of the 29 forest rest houses and inspection huts in the Kashmir and Jammu divisions from 1st May 2021. There will be a user-friendly online portal for booking rest houses on a first-come, first-serve basis. Another batch of 58 rest houses and huts will be open to tourists by July 1, 2021.

Tourists Can Go For Both
These accommodations are located at the quaintest places amidst pristine nature. And while they were only reserved for forest officers to be utilised now, tourists can live in these accommodations in the forest too. The trekking avenues range from short treks up and down mountain slopes, to week-long trans-mountain treks. Trekkers can camp in the wilderness as they pass through scenic splendors, with wild fauna and flora.
The development of these trekking routes will provide employment to the local population and tap the eco-tourism potential of the state.
