5 Quick Tips to Type Indian Rupee Symbol [ ₹ ] in MS Word

Indian currency was originally written as Rs. on the keyboard. Recently, IIT Guwahati professor designed the new Rupee symbol [₹] for the Indian government.

Indian Rupee is currently the part of the official Unicode standard if you need to insert the symbol into your Microsoft Word document using a regular keyboard.

So, now we have to know how to type it in computer software, including MS Word, MS Excel, HTML web pages, or plain text. For that, you first have to configure Windows language setting with keyboard as indian keyboard and English as United States English. Here we have brought you 6 simple ways to do that.

Trick 1: Keyboard with a Rupee sign

Many Keyboard manufacturers have installed this new icon on the keyboard. If you have such keyboard, just press Ctrl + Alt + ₹.

Trick 2. If not available on keyboard

If you don’t have that rupee icon press Ctrl + Alt + 4.

Trick 3. Use side Alt key

You can also press side Alt key (Alt Gr)+ ₹ symbol if it is available on your keypad.

Trick 4. Type 20B9

On the keyboard Type 20B9. Then press Alt + x. As soon as you press 20B9 will be replaced by the ₹ symbol.

Trick 5. Use Numeric keypad

Press left side Alt key and then type 8377 on the numeric pad. You’ll get ₹ symbol.
