LockStar Gets a Visual Upgrade on One UI 8

Samsung is rolling out a major update to its LockStar Good Lock plugin, bringing five brand-new fingerprint unlock animations for users on One UI 8.

• The animations appear on the lock screen when users tap the under-display fingerprint sensor.
• While the update is rolling out gradually, users can manually install the new version if they’re eager to try it now.

The 5 New Fingerprint Effects

Though Samsung hasn’t officially named them, visuals shared by X user SHREE show off the new fingerprint styles:

1. Ripple Effect – A sleek, circular animation moving clockwise, replacing the old default effect.
2. Emoji Pop – Displays two fun emojis (Ghost and Star) when unlocking.
3. Subtle Water – A soft, spreading water ripple effect, though not the smoothest visually.
4. Sprinkle Effect – A standout animation featuring shimmering particles swirling around the fingerprint area.
5. Native Style – Closely resembles the original fingerprint animation from One UI, ideal for minimalists.

These effects are designed to make the lock screen more dynamic and personalized, a long-awaited touch for Galaxy fans.

Compatible Devices and Limitations

Currently, the updated LockStar with fingerprint animations is supported on:

• Galaxy S25 series (running One UI 8 beta)
• Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, which launch July 25 with One UI 8 pre-installed

You can install the latest LockStar version on older One UI phones, but the new animations won’t appear unless your device runs One UI 8.
