Galaxy Watch Ultra Gets Smarter: Track Heart, Antioxidants, and Running Goals

Antioxidant Index, Vascular Load, and Running Coach Arrive via Samsung Health App Update, Unlocking Advanced Wellness Insights

Samsung Health App Just Got a Major Upgrade

With the release of the Galaxy Watch 8 series and Galaxy Watch Ultra, Samsung has introduced three powerful new health features—now enabled through the Samsung Health app version 6.30.3.011, first released on July 15.

These features include:

  1. Antioxidant Index
  2. Vascular Load
  3. Running Coach

While the first two are exclusive (for now) to the new Watch 8 and Ultra models, Running Coach may also come to select older models like the Galaxy Watch 7.

1. Antioxidant Index: A First-of-Its-Kind on Smartwatches

Samsung is the first major brand to introduce an Antioxidant Index on a smartwatch.

  • It measures carotenoid levels in your body—a key indicator of antioxidant strength
  • Simply place your thumb on the BioActive Sensor on the back of the watch for five seconds
  • Delivers insights into oxidative stress, aging, and lifestyle health

This allows users to track wellness trends over time and make diet or activity adjustments based on their antioxidant status.

2. Vascular Load: Sleep-Based Cardiovascular Insights

Vascular Load gives Galaxy Watch users a holistic view of cardiovascular strain by analyzing:

  • Sleep duration
  • Physical activity levels
  • Stress metrics

During sleep, the watch automatically tracks changes in vascular load and offers a stage-by-stage breakdown of how your cardiovascular system is performing—particularly valuable for users focused on long-term heart health.

3. Running Coach: Personalized Training on Your Wrist

The new Running Coach starts working automatically after a 12-minute run, analyzing your performance and creating a tailored training plan.

  • Offers 3- to 5-week programs based on fitness level
  • Identifies running ability, pace, and effort
  • Adjusts training intensity recommendations based on your data

It’s ideal for both first-time runners and experienced athletes, helping you improve efficiency and endurance over time.

Availability & Setup

  • These features require the Samsung Health v6.30.3.011 update
  • Antioxidant Index and Vascular Load are currently exclusive to Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch Ultra
  • Running Coach may roll out to other recent watches like the Galaxy Watch 7

To get the new tools:
âś… Download the latest Samsung Health update via the Google Play Store or Galaxy Store
