Labs by Perplexity AI Lets You Build Reports, Apps, and More in Minutes

Perplexity AI Launches ‘Labs’ to Transform Ideas Into Reports, Apps, and More

New feature empowers Pro users to go beyond search—turning insights into actionable outcomes

Perplexity Labs: From Questions to Complete Projects

Perplexity AI has unveiled a major new feature called Labs, designed to help users move from passive search to active creation. This tool is exclusive to Pro subscribers and promises to transform simple ideas into reports, dashboards, spreadsheets, code, and even mini web apps—all within a unified workspace.

  • Unlike Perplexity’s core tools like Search and Deep Research (now renamed “Research”), Labs focuses on executing multi-step projects, not just answering questions.
  • The launch marks a strategic shift for the platform—from being an answer engine to a project-oriented AI assistant.

How Labs Works: Self-Guided, Multi-Tool Automation

Labs uses 10-minute autonomous workflows to tackle complex tasks. It leverages:

  • Web browsing to fetch real-time data
  • Code execution to build tools and analyze datasets
  • Asset generation for files, charts, or documents

The output is organized into two sections:

  • Assets Tab: Stores created files like charts, spreadsheets, and documents
  • App Tab: Houses interactive tools such as web apps or presentations

This integration allows users to handle everything from data analysis and visualisation to marketing strategies or meal plans—without switching between tools.

A Virtual Project Team at Your Fingertips

Perplexity positions Labs as a virtual project team—capable, integrated, and fast. The platform writes and runs code on the fly, enabling:

  • Real-time data manipulation
  • Dynamic visual creation
  • Automated report structuring

The seamless execution allows professionals to generate results that previously required multiple apps or technical expertise.

Availability and Platform Support

Labs is now available for Pro subscribers on both web and mobile apps via the mode selector. Desktop versions for Mac and Windows are expected to roll out soon.
