One UI 7 Contacts Update: Favorites to Be Prioritized Over “Recently Added”

Samsung to Simplify Contacts in One UI 7 by Removing Unnecessary “Recently Added” Add-On

Upcoming Update Will Prioritize Favorite Contacts and Streamline the User Experience

One UI 7’s “Recently Added” Section: Helpful or a Hassle?

Samsung’s latest One UI 7.0 update introduced a new “Recently Added” section in the Contacts app, aiming to help users quickly access the newest numbers they’ve saved.

  • This feature appears at the top of the Contacts list within the Phone app.
  • It’s designed for users who frequently add new contacts, making recent additions easily accessible without the need to search.

User Backlash: Favorites Pushed Aside

  • While the intent was good, many users have found the “Recently Added” section disruptive.
    • It takes up valuable space that was previously reserved for favorite contacts, making it harder to reach your most important people.
    • Some users also find it confusing because the section temporarily disappears when you press the back button, creating an inconsistent experience.

Samsung Listens: A Fix Is On the Way

Samsung is aware of the issue and has responded to community feedback.

  • A community moderator confirmed that a new software update is in the works to improve how contacts are displayed in One UI 7.
    • The update aims to ensure that favorite contacts remain front and center, making them easier to find and dial.

How to Manage “Recently Added” Until the Update Arrives

  • For now, if the “Recently Added” section is getting in your way, you can temporarily hide it by pressing the back button within the Contacts app.
  • To stay ahead and receive the fix as soon as it’s released, make sure to keep your Galaxy phone updated:
    • Go to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install.

Why This Matters for Galaxy Users

  • Favorite contacts are a core part of the Contacts experience for many Samsung users, offering quick access to family, friends, and frequent callers.
  • Ensuring these contacts remain easily accessible keeps the phone app intuitive and user-friendly—especially as Samsung rolls out more features in One UI 7.
