One UI 8 Unlocks Live Notifications in Now Bar for All Apps: Samsung’s Dynamic Island Gets Smarter
Samsung’s latest update brings real-time notifications to all apps, expanding Now Bar’s capabilities beyond system apps and enhancing the user experience.
Smarter Now Bar: Live Notifications for Every App
With One UI 8, Samsung is set to upgrade the Now Bar’s Live notifications—Samsung’s answer to Apple’s Dynamic Island—making it more versatile and universally accessible.
- Previously, Live Notifications worked only with select Samsung apps, limiting real-time updates for third-party applications.
- The new update, spotted in One UI 8 Beta 3, introduces a developer option called “Live notifications for all apps,” paving the way for broader support.
Android 16 Integration Brings Universal Live Updates
This upgrade leverages Android 16’s new Live Updates API, which means any app supporting this standard—like Uber Eats, Spotify, or WhatsApp—can display live information in the Now Bar and status bar.
- Real-time updates, such as food delivery tracking, ride status, or music playback, will be visible directly at the top of the screen without opening the app.
Feature Rollout and Availability
Currently, this feature is hidden behind a developer option in the One UI 8 Beta 3 for the Galaxy S25 series.
- It’s widely expected to become a standard option in the final stable release, making the Now Bar more functional across all Galaxy devices supporting One UI 8.
- Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2025 on July 9 will officially unveil One UI 8 alongside the new Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7.
Expanding the Galaxy Experience
This update marks a significant improvement for Samsung users, making the Now Bar a central hub for real-time notifications from all compatible apps, not just Samsung’s own.
- Users will enjoy a smarter lock screen and status bar, with dynamic, context-aware notifications enhancing multitasking and convenience.
A New Era of Live Notifications
By unlocking Live Notifications for all apps in the Now Bar, Samsung is taking a major step forward in notification management and user interaction—offering Galaxy owners a more connected, up-to-date, and seamless mobile experience.
