Pinterest is expanding its partnership with Amazon, giving creators a new way to promote products and earn affiliate income through the platform.
The company said Wednesday that users will be able to connect their Amazon Storefronts directly to their Pinterest accounts.
Amazon Storefronts allow creators to earn commissions from affiliate links tied to products they feature in social media posts and videos.
Automatic affiliate linking
Pinterest said creators can use a new tool to link their Amazon Storefronts to their accounts.
Once connected:
- Eligible Amazon products tagged in Pins will automatically receive the creator’s affiliate link.
- The process of promoting products becomes automated.
- Followers can browse a creator’s recommendations beyond individual Pins or Boards.
Storefronts will also appear on creators’ Pinterest profiles.
Competing for creators
The move gives Pinterest another way to appeal to creators who have built shopping and affiliate businesses on platforms such as:
- Instagram.
- TikTok.
- YouTube.
- Facebook.
Pinterest said:
- More than half of its users visit the platform to shop.
- The service handles more than 80 billion searches each month.
Expanding ties with Amazon
The announcement deepens the relationship between the two companies.
Amazon became Pinterest’s first third-party advertising partner in 2023 under a multi-year agreement.
Pinterest followed that partnership with a similar advertising deal with Google in 2024.
Those agreements came as Pinterest sought to increase revenue from its bookmarking, shopping and inspiration platform.
Addressing user concerns
The latest move also comes as Pinterest tries to strengthen its reputation as a destination for shopping and recommendations.
Over the past year, users have complained about growing amounts of AI-generated content on the platform.
Pinterest introduced tools last year aimed at helping users manage AI-generated material, though the company has faced challenges because much of that content remains unlabeled.
By highlighting recommendations from human creators, Pinterest hopes to reinforce its position as a place for shopping and inspiration.
The company said support for storefront integrations with additional partners is planned.
TL;DR
Pinterest has introduced Amazon Storefront integration, allowing creators to automatically add affiliate links to eligible products and showcase their storefronts on their profiles as the company pushes deeper into creator-driven shopping.
