Samsung Refines One-Handed Use in One UI 8: Smart Gestures and Custom Handle Tools

Samsung Enhances One Hand Operation+ in One UI 8 with Smart Gestures and Custom Handle Controls

Latest plugin update for Galaxy S25 series introduces in-app buttons and gesture flexibility ahead of One UI 8’s full release.

Smarter Controls on the Horizon

Samsung has rolled out a major update to its One Hand Operation+ plugin, available now for Galaxy S25 series devices running One UI 8 Beta. The update introduces Smart Gestures and Custom Handle Controls, making one-handed navigation more intuitive and customizable.

Spotted by Theordysm, this release reflects Samsung’s broader effort to test and refine app-level upgrades alongside its system-level One UI enhancements.

Custom Handles for Streamlined Personalization

The update brings dedicated in-app buttons to the plugin for easier navigation and customization:

  • New “Add Handles” and “Delete Handles” buttons allow users to manage edge handles more easily
  • Builds on a previous Good Lock reorganization, which grouped plugins by function, enhancing overall user experience

These additions are part of Samsung’s ongoing push to simplify customization across its UI ecosystem.

Smart Gestures for Seamless Navigation

One of the headline features is the System Back Gesture toggle, enabling the native back gesture to work outside the handle area:

  • Offers greater compatibility with Android 16’s system-wide gesture controls
  • Reduces conflict between plugin-based and OS-level gestures, promoting a smoother, unified experience

This change aligns with One UI 8’s emphasis on gesture refinement, bridging the gap between convenience and control.

Available Now for Beta Users

  • Currently exclusive to Galaxy S25 devices running One UI 8 Beta
  • APK sideloading may unlock features on One UI 7 devices, though with possible bugs or instability

Samsung is actively developing these features in parallel with the broader One UI 8 rollout, which is expected to coincide with the launch of the Galaxy Z7 series next month.
