Samsung Supercharges SmartThings with New Features in Major App Update

Samsung SmartThings 1.8.33.25 Update Adds Now Bar Support, SmartTag Sharing, and Home Life Tools

Major app upgrade enhances smart home management with personalized features and improved control

Samsung has released a significant update to its SmartThings app—version 1.8.33.25—bringing a suite of powerful new features aimed at making smart home control more intuitive, personalized, and efficient.

Home Life: A Personalized Smart Home Hub

The update introduces a new Home Life section, designed to tailor SmartThings to your household’s specific needs.

  • It begins with a brief survey asking about residents, pets, and lifestyle habits.
  • Based on your responses, SmartThings delivers Insight Messages, offering customized tips and feature suggestions for an improved home experience.
  • Home Life can be accessed from the Home page or through the menu tab.

A standout addition is the ability to share your Galaxy SmartTag’s location through a secure, time-limited link.

  • Link durations include 12 hours, 24 hours, or one week.
  • Recipients must sign in with a Samsung account to view the location, ensuring privacy and control.

Advanced Routines for Smarter Automation

SmartThings routines now support time delays between actions and pre-execution confirmations.

  • This lets users fine-tune automation sequences, adding more flexibility and assurance.
  • Example: Delay turning off lights after a door opens, or prompt users before triggering a full routine.

Improved Navigation with Map View

The Map View interface is now more accessible and user-friendly.

  • You can choose to launch SmartThings directly into Map View.
  • It’s also easier to switch between Map View and the Home tab, improving day-to-day navigation.

Now Bar and Live Notification Integration

SmartThings now supports Samsung’s Now Bar and Live Notifications.

  • This allows users to access SmartThings features directly from the lock screen or Always-On Display.
  • You can enable it via Settings > Lock screen and AOD > Now Bar.

Rollout and Availability

The update is currently rolling out in stages through the Galaxy Store and Google Play Store.

  • If you haven’t received it yet, it should appear on your device in the coming days.
  • This update reinforces SmartThings as a powerful smart home ecosystem that’s now even more interactive and adaptable.
