Samsung Adds UI Scaling and Transparency Controls in One UI for Tizen Update
New settings enable users to scale down the interface size, tweak opacity for better viewing
New UI Controls for Greater Customisation
Samsung’s newest One UI Tizen update gives you finer control over the size and transparency of the UI, but there’s a catch. While the ability to enlarge the interface remains limited, users can now scale down UI elements more precisely.
This contradicts previous assumptions of fixed scaling options. Why not prioritise smaller UI flexibility over larger accessibility presets?
- Scaling fine tuning only for shrinking UI size
- Good for large-screen TVs or close-up viewing
This is for users who prefer the minimalist layout over the tablet view and would like to have that feeling of the dense desktop layout.
Transparency Settings Add Visual Experience
Samsung has also included UI transparency controls to adjust how menus appear over content, in addition to size changes.
- Menu settings with adjustable opacity slider
- Compatible with all UI size configurations
That feature adds to the immersion, especially when multitasking or when you’re navigating while viewing something. Is subtle transparency the new normal for TV interfaces?
Where to find the new settings
First, users have to turn off an important accessibility feature to get full control:
- Disable Zoom Menu and Text
Visit:
Settings > All Settings > General & Privacy > Menu Style
- Use the remote to move the UI Size slider
- Press down to reach Transparency slider
For example, when zoom is enabled, UI resizing is disabled but transparency can still be changed.
Availability and How to Upgrade
These features are part of the 2025 One UI Tizen upgrade that is being rolled out to Samsung TVs from 2023 and 2024. Users can check for updates manually:
- Settings > Support > Software update > Update now
- Settings > All Settings > Support > Software update > Update now
As the rollout continues, adoption may vary by region and model. Will users accept smaller and more compact interfaces or default layouts?
