What Scammers Are Doing To Steal Money From WhatsApp Users; Beware

Nowadays there are many easy ways to send and receive money from friends and family, and WhatsApp introduced the UPI payment feature a while back, ensuring hassle free transactions for its users. Online fraud is a very common occurrence in India, and we hear about it every day. Frauds are increasing day by day with the transition to digital India. One of the most used techniques to steal people’s money is the QR code.

A QR code can be used to make payment or send money to a shopkeeper or anyone and it cannot be used to receive money; however, there are people who still don’t know that money cannot be received by scanning QR code and the fraudsters use this little crack in the system to initiate online fraud.

The government should first teach everyone how to use the online payment system and then try to convert everything to digital because the lack of knowledge is the main reason behind the increase in online fraud in the country.

You should be aware of the type of people who come to you and ask you to scan a QR code because the moment you scan it, your money is gone from your account. For eg. if you are an online store owner and someone wants to purchase stuff from you and they ask you to scan a QR code in order to receive money from them. Once you scan the code, they will steal all the money from your account. This is the most common way online fraud is happening on WhatsApp and you have to be aware of these types of fraudsters.
