Samsung is taking a bold step in smart home innovation by integrating Google’s Gemini AI into its high-end Bespoke AI refrigerator lineup. This move significantly enhances the capabilities of Samsung’s refrigerators — from recognizing food items to managing groceries and even storing wine — turning your kitchen into a hub of intelligent assistance.
- Previously powered solely by Bixby, Samsung’s smart fridges will now benefit from the AI capabilities of Gemini, Google’s flagship chatbot and visual AI system.
- The update will be rolled out to multiple models including:
- Bespoke AI Hybrid Refrigerators with 9-inch AI Home displays
- Bespoke AI Family Hub Refrigerator
- Infinite AI Wine Refrigerator
Better Food Recognition with Gemini and Built-in Cameras
Samsung’s existing AI refrigerators could identify up to 37 types of fresh food and 50 packaged food items using Bixby. But with Gemini onboard, the recognition range is set to expand dramatically.
- Built-in cameras inside the fridge can now read handwritten and printed labels, even on custom food containers
- This data is then synced to your digital grocery list, offering real-time inventory tracking
The aim is to provide a frictionless food management system — reducing waste and making daily cooking decisions more informed.
Introducing AI Food Manager
A major new feature, AI Food Manager, leverages both Bixby and Gemini to provide advanced food tracking and management:
- Identifies and logs food items automatically
- Recommends recipes based on available ingredients
- Tracks expiration dates and suggests grocery restocking
This intelligent system allows users to make meal plans, shop smart, and minimize waste — all from the refrigerator door.
Gemini Is Also Coming to Samsung’s Wine Fridges
Samsung is extending Gemini AI to its Wine Cellar and Wine Cooler appliances, introducing the AI Wine Manager.
- Uses camera and text recognition to log wine details like:
- Name
- Classification
- Grape variety
- Vintage year
- Helps users track wine storage locations and conditions — ideal for long-term wine enthusiasts
This AI-powered assistant offers strategic wine organization, making wine curation less manual and more precise.
A Vision for AI-Enhanced Living
Samsung’s DA (Digital Appliances) division sees this integration as a major milestone in its AI Vision roadmap.
