Founded by 6sense’s Amanda Kahlow, 1mind’s AI-powered agent ‘Mindy’ aims to replace sales engineers and onboard customers—without sending a single cold email.
A New Kind of Sales AI Secures $30M Series A
1mind, a quiet but fast-growing startup redefining AI in sales, has raised $30 million in Series A funding, led by Battery Ventures, bringing its total funding to $40 million.
Founded by Amanda Kahlow, the visionary behind 6sense, 1mind has been in stealth for about a year—developing an AI sales agent named “Mindy” that goes beyond outbound automation.
- The round included participation from Primary Ventures, Wing Venture Capital, Operator Collective, and notable angels from companies like Databricks, Gong, and ZoomInfo.
- The new capital will scale 1mind’s AI capabilities and expand the team, which currently includes 44 employees with 71 open roles.
Not Another Outbound Bot
Unlike the many AI tools flooding the sales automation space, 1mind is deliberately avoiding outbound cold calls and emails.
“Mindy isn’t spamming inboxes,” Kahlow emphasizes. Instead, the agent is built for inbound, capable of handling:
- Real-time buyer interactions on websites
- Enterprise sales calls as a substitute for sales engineers
- Customer onboarding after deals close
The goal: Replace parts of the go-to-market team, not augment them.
“Mindy”: An AI Built to Sell, Not Just Assist
What makes Mindy different is its depth and scope. It’s trained on a company’s entire sales knowledge base, including product features, competitive insights, and technical documentation.
- The AI agent is used to fully engage with prospects, answering complex queries, presenting case studies, and even guiding buyers through closing.
- It relies on deterministic AI—not just generative text—to minimize hallucinations and ensure reliable, on-brand responses.
If the agent doesn’t know an answer, it admits it—building trust rather than pretending.
Backed by Results and Real Customers
With over 30 enterprise customers, including LinkedIn, HubSpot, and New Relic, 1mind has moved beyond proof-of-concept.
- All of its named clients are on annual contracts, not test pilots.
- The average contract value is in the six-figure range, signaling deep integration into their sales ecosystems.
- Internally, 1mind uses its own agents—both Mindy and an AI avatar of Amanda Kahlow—to handle sales calls and even VC due diligence.
Battery Ventures used the avatar to interrogate the company’s data room, asking about case studies and customer performance metrics—an interaction that impressed partner Neeraj Agrawal.
The Vision: Replacing Websites and Sales Engineers
Kahlow envisions a future where AI agents become the default point of customer contact—replacing traditional digital front doors and technical pre-sales roles.
- Today, Mindy already replaces the website by actively conversing with inbound prospects.
- It replaces sales engineers by joining Zoom calls and answering complex technical queries.
- It replaces onboarding reps by guiding new customers through setup.
Eventually, she sees AI replacing account executives (AEs) too—but says current barriers are mostly trust and buyer readiness, not technology.
A Glimpse Into Agent-to-Agent Sales
Kahlow believes the future of sales may not involve any humans at all—with AI agents transacting directly with each other, passing specs and requirements without needing to simulate human conversation.
- 1mind is already building for this future, where avatars are no longer necessary, and data flows between agents seamlessly.
Yet for now, human oversight remains key. The company still hires AEs and customer success roles while Mindy continues learning.
