2022 Mazda 3 Lineup Appears With Sporty All-New Carbon Edition

Mazda has also offered Carbon Editions of other models such as the CX-5.
Mazda 3 Hatchback and Mazda 3 Sedan are two of the most attractive and premium cars in this segment, and the range was boosted by the addition of a turbocharged engine over the last year. Mazda has now revealed pricing and a sporty new trim level for the 2022 Mazda 3 lineup. Fortunately, the price increase is only modest. As before, the cheapest model is the 2.0-liter sedan with front-wheel drive, which begins at $20,800, up from $20,650 for the 2021 model. The hatchback doesn’t come with this engine option, which produces 155 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque.

The 2.5 S is available as a sedan and hatchback. The price starts at $21,750 for the former and $22,750 for the latter. Most models in the lineup are equipped with this engine, which produces 186 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque. Unless otherwise stated, we’ll focus on sedan pricing below as most hatchbacks cost $1,000 more than their sedan counterparts. The 2.5 S Select Package costs $23,100, the 2.5 S Preferred Package costs $24,750, and the new 2.5 S Carbon Edition costs $26,400. The 2.5 S Premium Package starts at $27,350, and the hatchback-only manual derivative for this trim is $28,350. Finally, we come to the turbocharged models.

The 2.5-liter turbo engine is far more powerful than the naturally aspirated engines, producing 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque with premium gas. The 2.5 Turbo begins at $30,550 and the 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus costs $33,100. In the only instance where the hatchback costs over $1,000 more, it is with the 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus, where the hatch costs $34,400, making it the most expensive model. AWD versions of the Preferred Package and Premium Package are available, and turbocharged models have AWD by default.
Most of the trims remain unchanged, so we’ll focus on the new Carbon Edition. Mazda has already introduced Carbon Editions of other models, such as the CX-5, and now they are bringing it to the 3 Sedan and Hatchback.

The exterior paint of the Carbon Edition is Polymetal Gray, along with black 18-inch alloy wheels, gloss black door mirrors, and a shark fin antenna. They complement the 3’s sleek exterior beautifully. In addition to the features found in the Preferred Package, it adds a 12-speaker Bose sound system, red leather upholstery, and SiriusXM satellite radio. This model, however, is limited to 186 horsepower and FWD.

Mazda has added a new color to its lineup called Platinum Quartz Metallic. This winter, the Mazda 3 lineup for the 2022 model year will hit dealerships.
