BMW 6 Series 50 Jahre M Edition Launched, Priced From Rs. 72.9 Lakhs

Commemorating the 50th anniversary of its performance M division, BMW has launched the 6 Series 50 Jahre M Edition for a price tag of Rs. 72,90,000/- (ex-showroom). It’s costlier than the recently-launched M340i xDrive 50 Jahre M Edition by Rs. 4 lakhs.

Produced at BMW’s Chennai plant, the special edition comes in a lone petrol variant – 630i M Sport. The bespoke model can be booked online at shop.bmw.in. This is among the 10 ’50 Jahre M Editions’ earlier slated for launch this year.

The special edition features a more angular design and a larger type of signature kidney grille. In place of a conventional BMW Motorsport logo, it features the edition-specific one.

The newly added Laserlight headlamps, unique in this segment, distribute light perfectly up to 650 metres. From the sides, the sloping roofline gives the car a coupe-like stance. The rear gets muscular lines and freeform tailpipes.

The special edition is available in a variety of colours including BMW-individual Tanzanite Blue Metallic, M Carbon Black, Bernina Grey Amber Effect and Mineral White, paired with natural leather Dakota upholstery in Cognac finish with contrast stitching.

BMW is offering an optional M accessories Package. It includes BMW kidney grille in High Gloss Black, key fob in Carbon Fibre and Alcantara, and 19-inch 647 M light alloy wheels in Jet Black.

Using the car’s comfort access system, you can open all doors and start the vehicle by pushing a button while keeping the key in your pocket. Luxury features include rear-seat entertainment experience screens and Harman Kardon surround sound.

On the inside, the special edition gets a 2-part panoramic glass sunroof, 4-zone automatic climate control, a 12.3-inch digital instrument display behind the steering wheel, and a 12.3 inch infotainment system.

The displays are powered by BMW Live Cockpit Professional running on BMW Operating System 7.0 with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto enabled.

This car has a 2-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine that generates 258 HP and 400 Nm with 0-100 kmph acceleration in 6.5 seconds. The engine is mated to a steptronic sport automatic transmission with 8 speeds.

Safety features include 6 airbags, Attentiveness Assistance, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Brake Assist, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and Electronic Differential Lock Control (EDLC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), etc.
