BMW’s Mid-Cap ADV F 450 GS Eyes India Launch – What to Expect

BMW Motorrad’s new mid-cap ADV, the F 450 GS, is poised to hit Indian roads in January 2026 with premium features, a fresh engine, and strong off-road DNA.

BMW F 450 GS India Launch Expected in January 2026

BMW Motorrad is preparing to launch the all-new F 450 GS in India early next year, with the release expected in January 2026. First revealed at EICMA 2025, the adventure motorcycle has already entered select overseas markets and will be locally manufactured at TVS’ Hosur plant—a move that should help with competitive pricing.

Sitting below the F 850 GS in BMW’s ADV lineup, the F 450 GS targets the growing mid-capacity adventure segment, especially appealing to riders seeking a balance of off-road capability, touring comfort, and manageable proportions.

All-New 420 cc Engine: Compact, Capable & Characterful

At its core, the F 450 GS uses a newly developed 420 cc parallel-twin engine, featuring a 135-degree crankpin offset and a balance shaft to reduce vibrations.

  • Power Output: 48 hp
  • Torque: 43 Nm
  • Transmission: 6-speed gearbox with assist and slipper clutch

The engine is tuned to deliver smooth low-end torque and strong mid-range response, making it ideal for both urban riding and trail exploration.

Fuel Efficiency and Semi-Automatic Clutch Innovation

BMW claims a fuel economy of 3.8L/100 km, which should offer a real-world range of over 350 km on a full tank.

One standout feature is the optional semi-automatic clutch system (standard on the GS Trophy trim). It enables clutch-free operation in slow-speed or off-road scenarios—particularly helpful during tight manoeuvres or heavy traffic.

Purpose-Built Chassis and Suspension Setup

The F 450 GS is built on an all-new tubular steel frame, designed to provide both rigidity and flexibility for mixed-terrain use. Tipping the scales at around 178 kg, it’s lighter than most adventure bikes in its class.

Suspension & Braking:

  • Front: 43 mm KYB upside-down forks
  • Rear: KYB monoshock (adjustable on higher trims)
  • Brakes: Front by Brembo, rear by ByBre
  • Safety Tech: Traction Control, Cornering ABS, Dynamic Brake Control, Engine Brake Management

These features make the F 450 GS trail-ready while remaining approachable for newer ADV riders.

Four Variants, More Capability with Each Step

BMW will offer the F 450 GS in four variants:

  1. Basic
  2. Exclusive
  3. Sport
  4. GS Trophy (top-end)

As you move up the range, the bike gains off-road hardware and premium finishes, including:

  • Aluminium bash plates
  • Hand guards
  • Upgraded suspension
  • Rugged footpegs
  • Sporty paint options like Racing Red and Racing Blue Metallic

Rider Tech & Comfort Features

Each F 450 GS variant includes a 6.5-inch full-colour TFT display with:

  • Smartphone connectivity
  • Navigation support
  • Bluetooth functions

Additional convenience features:

  • USB-C charging port
  • Heated grips (select variants)
  • Multiple riding modes: Rain, Road, Enduro (standard)
  • Enduro Pro mode (on higher variants)

These features ensure the F 450 GS is as comfortable on highways as it is agile on off-road trails.

Expected Price & Market Positioning

With local manufacturing at TVS’ Hosur plant, BMW may opt for aggressive pricing to challenge KTM, Royal Enfield, and Triumph in the mid-size ADV space.

Estimated starting price: ₹4.70 lakh (ex-showroom)
This would place the F 450 GS competitively below the F 850 GS while offering similar brand appeal and technology in a smaller package.

TVS–BMW Alliance Reaches 2 Lakh Milestone

The F 450 GS arrives at a key milestone for the TVS–BMW alliance, which has now crossed 2 lakh units in production. Models like the G 310 GS, G 310 R, and G 310 RR have built a strong foundation for BMW in India’s sub-500 cc space—and the F 450 GS is expected to elevate this legacy further.
