Citroen C3 is expected to make its official India-debut followed by launch as early as next month. The entry-level compact SUV is currently undergoing extensive tests throughout the country with commuters spotting it almost every day on our roads without camouflage.
The C3 is the French car maker’s answer to those who complained about the C5 Aircross being very expensive starting at over Rs. 38 lakhs (ex-showroom). The C3 having its design inspired from its bigger brother would be its greatest strength.
It’s likely to be powered by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine in both naturally-aspirated as well as turbocharged avatars. The engines would be mated to either manual or automatic gearboxes thereby spanning many variants.
The interesting aspect to note here is the C3’s expected price. Sources say, it would command a starting ex-showroom price of just over Rs. 5.5 lakhs undercutting even the affordable Nissan Magnite.
Despite the low price, the new C3 will come packed with many features, including a 10-inch touchscreen display supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a digital instrument cluster. Basic safety features are also expected to be featured.
Also, the C3 stands out from its competition in terms of its splash of funky colors. There is a rumour that the SUV will be available in 10 colours, most of which are dual-tones. Body claddings take care of most of the exterior detailing.
Fusion of the roof rails emphasizes the SUV stance of the car. With the split headlights and Citroen’s signature grille, the front is completed, while the side and rear are enhanced with subtle details.
