Hero Xpulse 210: Significant Changes and Higher Price Expected in Upcoming Model

The Hero Xpulse 210 has recently been spotted undergoing testing, and it’s generating considerable excitement among motorcycle enthusiasts. This marks the third engine variant observed in Hero’s ongoing Xpulse development. While the company is known to be working on two new Xpulse models, including one with a 400cc+ engine, the latest sightings indicate the use of the Karizma XMR’s engine—a significant development.

Hero Xpulse 210: What We Know So Far

Design and Features: The Xpulse 210 marks the first major update to the model in five years. We expect to see changes to the bike’s bodywork and style, which have remained largely consistent over time. The spy images also suggest a larger fuel tank compared to the current model’s 13-litre unit, addressing one of the Xpulse 200’s limitations.

Engine Upgrade: The Hero Xpulse 210 is set to transition from the current air/oil-cooled engine to the Karizma’s liquid-cooled unit. This change is more than a simple engine swap. The two engines are fundamentally different, suggesting that extensive modifications to the chassis and other components will be necessary.

Potential Replacement: The shift to the new engine might mean that the Xpulse 210 will replace the existing Xpulse 200 rather than adding to the current lineup. This approach is similar to Royal Enfield’s strategy when they upgraded from the Himalayan 411 to the 450.

Performance Boost: The current Xpulse 200 delivers 19.1 horsepower and 17.35 Nm of torque. In contrast, the Karizma’s engine offers 25.5 horsepower and 20.4 Nm of torque. This substantial increase could make the Xpulse 210 more appealing. However, the Karizma’s engine is known for its peaky performance and tends to feel flat below 6,000 RPM. Hero is expected to adjust the engine’s tuning and gearing to better suit the Xpulse’s characteristics.

Exhaust Design: The spy images show that the Xpulse 210 will feature an upswept exhaust, in contrast to the side-mounted end can on the Karizma XMR. This change may affect the bike’s overall design and performance.

Accessories and Customization

In addition to performance and design upgrades, the Hero Xpulse 210 test mule has been spotted with several accessories, including hard panniers. This suggests that Hero might offer a range of homologated accessories when the bike officially launches. These accessories could enhance the bike’s functionality for long-distance touring and off-road adventures, further broadening its appeal to diverse riders.

Launch and Pricing

The Hero Xpulse 210 is projected to hit the market in late 2024. With the significant upgrades and new features, a price increase from the current model’s range of ₹1.47 lakh to ₹1.55 lakh is expected. This new pricing will reflect the advanced technology and performance enhancements incorporated into the Xpulse 210.
