In March 2022, the top selling cars in India

March 2022 proved to be a successful month for the Indian automobile sector. In February, most automakers saw positive year-over-year growth despite persistent semiconductor scarcity and supply chain problems. Once again, Suzuki dominates the list of the best selling cars. Here is the full list of the best-selling cars in March 2022.

Tata Punch

Tata Punch has been added to the top-selling list with 10,526 units sold in the past month. With a starting price of Rs 5.67 lakh, the Tata punch is powered by a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine that delivers 86PS and 113 Nm. In the top-three trim levels, this motor pairs with a five-speed manual transmission or an automatic transmission. According to the manual, ARAI fuel consumption is 19 kmpl.

Hyundai Creta

Hyundai Creta again ranked as the best-selling mid-size SUV in India, selling 10,532 units. The Hyundai Creta is powered by petrol and diesel engines, such as the 114PS 144Nm 1.5-liter petrol engine mated to either a CVT or a six-speed manual. A 140PS/242Nm 1.4-litre turbo GDi petrol engine is also available, but it can only be had with a seven-speed DCT transmission. Even a 1.5-liter four-cylinder diesel with 115PS and 250Nm is available with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.

Hyundai Creta prices start at Rs 10.23 lakh.

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza

In March 2022, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza was sold 12,439 times in India. It has a starting price of Rs 7.69 lakh and a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine, just like the Ciaz and Ertiga. With this motor, you get 105PS and 138Nm of torque as well as Smart Hybrid technology to go along with it. Depending on the model, the motor is paired with either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. Fuel efficiency of the manual is 17.03 kmpl and that of the AT (automatic with Maruti’s smart hybrid system) is 18.76 kmpl.

Maruti Suzuki Swift

The Swift was sold 13,623 times in March 2022 by Suzuki. With its 1.2-litre engine, the Maruti Suzuki Swift produces 90PS and 113Nm of torque and comes with a five-speed manual transmission or a five-speed automated transmission. Prices start from Rs 5.90 lakh.

Tata Nexon

The Tata Nexon is once again the best-selling SUV in India, having sold 14,315 units in March 2022. Tata Nexon is offered with a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 120PS and 170Nm of torque, as well as a 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces 110PS and 260Nm of torque. The transmission options include a six-speed manual and an AMT. Starting at Rs 7.42 lakh, the Tata Nexon is priced at Rs 7.42 lakh.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno

Last month, 14,520 units of the facelifted Maruti Suzuki Baleno were sold. The 2022 Maruti Suzki Baleno is powered by a 1.2-litre Dualjet naturally aspirated petrol engine, which delivers 90PS and 113 Nm. Replaces the earlier CVT with a five-speed manual or a five-speed manual. In ARAI ratings, the manual returns 22.35 kmpl, while the AMT returns 22.94 kmpl.

The Baleno can be had in four variants with prices starting at Rs 6.35 lakh for the Sigma MT. This goes up to Rs 9.49 lakh for the Alpha AMT.

Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire

Maruti Suzuki Dzire was the second most sold car in March 2022 with 18,623 units. Maruti Dzire comes only with 1.2-litre petrol. It is an updated version of the tried and tested 1.2-litre K-series VVT engine and develops 90PS and 113 Nm of torque. Even though the Dzire is offered in just a petrol engine, it still returns up to 24 kmpl which is far better than the competition. The Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire starts from Rs 6.09 lakh.

Maruti Suzuki WagonR

Maruti Suzuki WagonR was the best-selling car in India in March 2022 with 24,634 units sold. Among the engine options for the Maruti Suzuki WagonR are a 1.0-liter and a 1.2-liter petrol engine. While the former produces 68PS and 90Nm of torque, the latter produces 83PS and 113Nm. A five-speed manual transmission and an automatic transmission are both available. An alternative fuel option is available as well. Prices start from Rs 5.18 lakh.
