2025 Honda CB650R & CBR650R Launched With Segment-First E-Clutch in India
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has launched the 2025 CB650R and CBR650R, becoming the first bikes in India to feature the brand’s newly developed E-Clutch system.
- Bookings are now open at Honda BigWing dealerships nationwide, with deliveries scheduled to begin by end-May 2025.
- This move marks a significant technological step for Honda in the mid-displacement premium segment.
Prices and Variants
Both motorcycles are priced ex-showroom, Delhi, and fall under Honda’s premium BigWing lineup.
- The Honda CB650R is available at Rs 9.60 lakh, aimed at streetfighter enthusiasts.
- The faired CBR650R commands a Rs 10.40 lakh price tag, appealing to sportbike lovers.
- These models follow the global debut of the E-Clutch in late 2023, now making its way into Indian showrooms.

E-Clutch Technology: What It Offers
Honda’s E-Clutch system allows for clutchless starts, stops, and gear shifts, enhancing both ride comfort and performance.
- Riders don’t need to use the clutch lever, yet the experience retains the feel of a manual transmission.
- The system is particularly beneficial in traffic conditions, reducing fatigue while offering precise control during spirited riding.
- This innovation is expected to transform everyday riding without compromising on engagement.
CB650R: Urban Streetfighter with Neo-Retro Appeal
The CB650R embodies Honda’s neo-sports café design, blending modern aesthetics with classic cues.
- It sports a round LED headlamp, muscular tank, and a trellis-style open frame for a raw yet refined look.
- India gets two paint schemes: Candy Chromosphere Red and Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic, adding visual distinction.
CBR650R: Faired Sportbike with Added Performance Aids
The CBR650R takes a more aggressive approach, offering a sporty full-fairing, sharper lines, and a track-leaning posture.
- While sharing the same engine and chassis as the CB650R, it adds Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) to enhance grip.
- The available colours include Grand Prix Red and Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic, in line with its race-inspired character.

Shared Engine and Mechanical Package
Both models are powered by a 649 cc inline-four engine, a rarity in the segment, tuned for balanced power and smoothness.
- It produces 94 hp at 12,000 rpm and 63 Nm of torque at 9,500 rpm, mated to a six-speed gearbox integrated with the E-Clutch.
- Key hardware components include:
- 41 mm Showa SFF-BP front forks for stable handling.
- Rear monoshock with preload adjustment for customizable comfort.
- Dual 310 mm front discs and a 240 mm rear disc, equipped with dual-channel ABS.
Tech Features and Connectivity
To enhance rider engagement, Honda offers a 5.0-inch full-colour TFT display on both models.
- The screen features Bluetooth connectivity and access to smartphone functions via Honda’s RoadSync app.
- This system allows for navigation, calls, and music control, adding a tech-friendly touch to the ride.
Honda’s Strategy in the Premium Segment
Commenting on the launch, Yogesh Mathur, Director, Sales and Marketing at Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, expressed confidence in the new offerings.
- He highlighted the strong response to the standard variants earlier in the year and expects the E-Clutch-equipped models to further strengthen Honda’s premium motorcycle presence.
