In India, the festive season is just around the corner, and car dealerships have already begun preparing for it. Kerala’s car dealers are preparing for Onam, which is a very important festival. A Kia dealer from Kannur district recently delivered 51 vehicles to customers in one day. D.K.H Kia from Kannur, who is an authorised dealer handed over the keys to customer in an event organised on 17 August 2022. A record number of SUVs were delivered to customers on a single day by the dealership. The ceremony took place in a college ground near the dealership. The exact number of SUVs is not available.
Kia Sonet, Seltos, Carnival, and Carens MPVs were delivered to customers at the event. Kia representatives handed over the keys to the cars to customers. Kia entered Indian market in 2019 with Seltos SUV. The SUV became an instant hit among customers for its looks, features and the competitive pricing. It is still one of the popular SUVs in the segment. Kia Seltos competes with cars like Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun in the segment. Seltos is available with two petrol and a diesel engine option with variety of transmission options.
Next car that Kia in India manufactured was the Sonet. It was launched in 2020 and just like the Seltos, Sonet also grabbed attention among buyers for its bold looks and features. Kia Sonet competes with cars like Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Nissan Magnite, Renualt Kiger in the segment. The Kia Sonet is offered with a 1.0 litre turbo petrol engine, 1.2 litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.5 litre turbo diesel engine option. It is a very popular SUV in the sub-4 meter segment in India.
Kia Carnival was also launched in the market in 2020. The luxury MPV is currently the flagship model from South Korean car maker in India (if we don’t consider EV6). The Kia Carnival is priced in such a manner that it creates a segment for itself. Carnival that we have in India is a generation old and it is still one of the most spacious and luxurious MPV one can buy in that price tag. It is priced above Innova Crysta and is way more cheaper than Toyota Vellfire and Mercedes-Benz V-Class. Kia Carnival is available with a diesel engine only, and it uses a 2.2 litre turbocharged engine which is available with an 8-speed automatic transmission as standard.
Kia Carens is one of the latest model introduced in the market. The car is based on the same platform as Seltos. Kia however does not categorises Carens as an SUV, and they call it a recreational vehicle and falls under MPV. Like other Kia products, Carens is available with a long list of features and premium interiors. There are petrol and diesel engine options available with the manual and automatic transmission. Kerala has been the site of mass deliveries many times in the past. A Volkswagen Virtus sedan was delivered to 150 customers on the same day by EVM Volkswagen in Kochi, which entered the India Books of Records.
