Mahindra XUV900 SUV Coupe – 5 Key Facts We Know So Far

Mahindra & Mahindra has a handful of new models for the Indian market. Recently, the home-grown carmaker trademarked multiple nameplates for its upcoming products including XUV100, XUV700 and XUV900. While the Mahindra XUV700 will be a three-row SUV to challenge the upcoming Hyundai Alcazar, the XUV100 and XUV900 nameplates are reported to be used for Mahindra’s new mini SUV and SUV Coupe respectively. Here’re 5 important facts we know so far about the upcoming Mahindra XUV900 SUV Coupe.

1. MAHINDRA’S 1ST SUV COUPE
The new XUV900 will be the first four-door SUV Coupe from the home-grown carmaker in the country. The SUV Coupe body style combines space and practicality of an SUV and handling and styling of a two-door Coupe. It will be one of the upcoming SUVs designed at the Mahindra Automotive Design Europe studio.

2. BASED ON XUV AERO CONCEPT
The upcoming Mahindra SUV Coupe will share resemblance to the XUV Aero concept that was first previewed at the 2016 Auto Expo. The prototype was developed by Pininfarina and styled in-house by Mahindra. It has front fenders, pronounced hood, suicide doors, a downward sloping coupe-like roofline, muscular rear bumper with faux diffusers and horizontally positioned taillamps. The production-ready Mahindra XUV900 SUV Coupe is likely to have conventional front-hinged door units.

3. PREMIUM INTERIOR
Interior of the upcoming Mahindra SUV Coupe is likely to be more premium and feature-laden than the XUV7000. Its dashboard design and front seats could be sourced from the Mahindra XUV Aero concept. It’s likely to come with a new infotainment unit, connected car tech and several comfort goodies.

4. ENGINES FROM XUV700
If reports are to be believed, the upcoming Mahindra XUV900 will borrow its engines and gearboxes from the XUV700. The latter one will be offered with the 2.0L mStallion petrol and 2.2L mHawk diesel engine options. There might be two gearboxes on offer – 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic.

5. EXPECTED LAUNCH & PRICE
While there is no official word on its launch timeline, the Mahindra XUV900 is likely to hit roads before 2024. The SUV Coupe price is likely to be around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
