Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara: Variants Explained

Maruti recently unveiled its all-new mid-size SUV Grand Vitara. The Toyota-Suzuki tie-up is well-known, and this is their first jointly-developed product for India. The Grand Vitara is Maruti’s version of the Toyota Hyryder, which was unveiled a few weeks ago.

Maruti has confirmed that the Grand Vitara will go on sale from September this year. Grand Vitara will be sold via Nexa dealerships and bookings for the same has already started. Maruti will be offering Grand Vitara in 6 trims. What are those trims? We explain.

The Grand Vitara will be available in six trim levels from Maruti. Only the top two trims would be offered with strong hybrid system. The trims are Sigma, Delta, Zeta, Alpha, Zeta+ and Alpha+. What all features do these trims offer? let’s find out.

Sigma

The Grand Vitara would begin with this variant. Unlike other Maruti cars that we have seen so far, even the base variant of Grand Vitara will have some features in it. The Sigma variant will be powered by the 1.5 litre mild-hydrid engine and will come with a 5-speed manual gearbox only. It will offer features like halogen projector headlamps, LED DRLs,17 inch steel rims with wheel cover, faux silver skid plate both at the front and rear, 4.2 inch TFT display instrument cluster, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, keyless entry, electrically adjustable ORVMs, automatic climate control, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, 60:40 split & reclining rear seats, rear AC vents, black and brown interiors, rear parking sensors and so on.

Delta

There is a variant of this car that sits just above the base Sigma model. This variant also gets the mild-hybrid petrol engine but it is available with both manual and automatic transmission option. When it comes to features, in addition to what is already available with Sigma, Delta gets a 7.0 inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Suzuki connected car features, cruise control, fast charging USB ports at the rear, Alexa & Google assistance, 4-speaker sound system and reverse parking camera.

Zeta

Zeta variant also gets the 1.5 litre mild hybrid engine and is available with manual and automatic transmission option. The manual version in the Zeta variant gets AWD system as well. It offer features like chrome window line garnish, automatic headlamps with follow me home function, 17 inch dual-tone alloy wheels, front wiper intermittent setting, rear windscreen wiper & washer, soft touch inserts on dashboard and door panels, ambient lights on the door, auto-folding ORVMs, 9.0 inch touchscreen infotainment system, Arkamys sound system, side and curtain airbags. These features offered in addition to what was offered with Delta.

Zeta+

In the Zeta+ variant of the Grand Vitara, you get a powerful 1.5-liter hybrid engine. It comes with an e-CVT gearbox only. This variant offers dual-tone exterior colour options, silver roof rails, dark grey skid plates at front and rear, panoramic sunroof, all-black interior with golden accents, ambient lights on dashboard, fully digital 7.0 inch instrument cluster, HUD, wireless phone charger and other features that were available in Zeta trim.

Alpha

Alpha trims are offered with mild hybrid engines, manual and automatic transmissions, and AWD systems with manual transmissions. In addition to the features offered with Delta trim, Alpha variant gets dual-tone exterior shades, black roof rails, leatherette seats, leathrette steering wheel, panoramic sunroof, drive selector mode in AWD version, 360 degree camera and hill descent control.

Alpha+

Grand Vitara’s top-end trim comes with a hybrid engine and e-CVT transmission. The SUV gets black leatherette seats, leatherette steering wheel, puddle lamps, ventilated front seats, better sound system, 360 degree camera, TPMS and other features that are already offered in the Zeta+ variant.
