Baleno Cross
One of these is a coupe-style crossover called the Baleno Cross.
Launch could occur in February 2023, following the unveiling at the 2022 Auto Expo in January 2023.
It’s expected to be based on Maruti’s lightweight HEARTECT platform that underpins the Baleno hatchback.
It will also mark the reintroduction of Suzuki’s Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine.
Jimny
In 2023, the company will launch the 5-door Jimny lifestyle SUV.
At the 2023 Auto Expo, this hardcore body-on-frame off-roader is expected to break cover as a niche offering.
New flagship
The carmaker is said to be developing a new 7-seater SUV for the Indian market which it will sell through NEXA premium dealership network.
This will be a premium, three-row SUV.
While details are scarce, they are reportedly based on the Ertiga’s flexible platform.
This SUV will rival the likes of the Hyundai Alcazar, Mahindra XUV700 and others.
Powertrain
There is a likelihood that the Alcazar rival will be powered by the same 1.5L dual-jet petrol engine that powers the Brezza and the Grand Vitara, which also powers the Alcazar.
It could also get a Toyota-sourced 1.5L 3-cylinder TNGA Atkinson petrol engine with a strong hybrid tech.
The engine produces 92.45PS of power, while the maximum usable power and torque stand at 115.5PS and 122Nm.
Similar to the new Grand Vitara, the 7-seater SUV could also get Suzuki’s AllGrip AWD system with drive modes aside from Toyota’s e-CVT.
