By integrating digital access, national infrastructure, and a growing EV lineup, Maruti Suzuki aims to lead India’s electric vehicle revolution.
A Unified Charging Network for a New EV Era
Maruti Suzuki is stepping beyond just EV manufacturing—it’s now building the infrastructure to support India’s electric future. In a bold move, the automaker has unveiled an integrated nationwide charging ecosystem, designed to remove common EV adoption barriers such as range anxiety and charger accessibility.
This ecosystem links vehicles, chargers, and digital platforms through a unified interface—an essential step as India’s EV market scales up.
Strategic Alliances with 13 Charge Point Operators
To expand charging access, Maruti Suzuki has formed partnerships with 13 major Charge Point Operators (CPOs) and aggregators. This tie-up allows customers to:
- Access thousands of public chargers across brands and locations
- Use one interface for location tracking, payments, and charging status
- Rely on Maruti’s dealer/service network for charging at over 2,000 exclusive points
It’s a multi-layered approach: combining public and private infrastructure to deliver seamless coverage.
Nationwide Demonstration Drive: EV Confidence in Action
To showcase the real-world viability of this system, four e Vitara SUVs embarked on a symbolic all-India drive from Gurugram, each headed to a farthest corner of the country:
- North: Srinagar
- South: Kanyakumari
- East: Dibrugarh
- West: Bhuj
This drive underscores Maruti’s confidence in the reach and readiness of its charging network—even across remote or challenging terrains.
“e for me” App: Control, Convenience, and Connectivity
The digital core of this ecosystem is the “e for me” mobile app, designed to unify every aspect of the EV ownership experience:
- Locate public charging stations in real time
- Start/stop charging sessions remotely
- Complete cashless payments via UPI or Maruti Suzuki Money wallet
- Monitor home chargers and control them remotely
- Mirror the interface on the vehicle’s infotainment screen
This approach ensures that tech-savvy, seamless interactions become the norm for EV users.
Upgraded Infrastructure and Skilled Manpower Nationwide
Maruti has also prepared its physical infrastructure and workforce for the EV transition:
- 1,500+ workshops across 1,100 cities now handle EV servicing
- Over 1.5 lakh staff trained for electric vehicle support
- Support system already in place before mass market launch of the e Vitara
This proactive readiness strategy reinforces the brand’s long-term EV commitment.
Ambitious 2030 Vision: One Lakh Public Chargers
Looking ahead, Maruti Suzuki has set a lofty target—to enable a network of over 1 lakh public charging points by 2030. This goal aligns with India’s broader push toward net-zero carbon goals and mass EV adoption.
By taking ownership of both product and infrastructure, Maruti is positioning itself to lead the Indian passenger EV market—not just in sales, but in ecosystem dominance.
e Vitara: The EV at the Heart of It All
Already in production for international markets, the e Vitara will go on sale in India next month. It offers:
- 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery options
- A claimed range of up to 543 km
- Support for DC fast charging
- Recently earned 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating
It will serve as the flagship of Maruti’s EV transformation, offering range, safety, and global appeal.
