Mercedes-Benz has promised ten new offerings for the Indian market this calendar year. One of them, the Maybach S-Class, launched last month. Now, the brand is preparing to launch the fifth-generation C-Class in the country sometime in May 2022.
Mercedes will introduce the new-generation C-Class in February 2022 with advanced technology, a completely redesigned interior, and a look similar to the flagship S-Class. Although the C-Class is famously known as the baby S-Class, this generation update brings the C-Class closer in design to Mercedes’ flagship W223. Furthermore, the vehicle’s dimensions have grown to 4,793mm long, 2,033mm wide, and 1,446mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,865mm.
The BMW 3 Series rival features an avant-garde interior. In the C-Class, Mercedes offers a split-display setup – a 12.3-inch driver display and an 11.9-inch touchscreen with a fingerprint sensor. In addition, it gets touch-capacitive switches on the steering wheel, an uncluttered center console (without a rotary dial, trackpad, or switches to control the infotainment system), new air-con vents, ambient lighting, a sunroof, powered front seats, and more.
There are four-cylinder engine options available for the C-Class in some international markets, including the C200, C300, C220d, C300d, and a hybrid C300e. A nine-speed automatic transmission is standard on all models, while a 48-volt mild-hybrid system is also available for the saloon. With the India-bound C-Class, Mercedes-Benz is expected to offer petrol and diesel engines.
