Today, Royal Enfield has revealed the ‘120 Year Edition’ models of the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 at EICMA 2021.
Created by the premium bike manufacturer to celebrate its 120th anniversary (Royal Enfield launched its first bike at the Stanley Cycle Show in London in November 1901), only 480 units of the special edition models will ever be made.
India, Europe, Americas and South-East Asia will get 120 units each and of the 480 units, the split between the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 is even, with 240 ‘120 Year Edition’ versions of both motorcycles set to be made.
Enfield’s twin-cylinder bikes have been selling well globally, To be present at Royal Enfield showrooms in Europe by early next year, the limited edition motorcycles sport a ‘Black Chrome’ paint finish, handmade brass tank badges and gold-colored motifs and pinstripes.
Further, they also featured a brown seat and blacked components – the engine, exhaust and wheels all come in black, so do the mirrors and even the flyscreen is tinted. The brass badges and details suit complement the paint scheme
Both motorcycles also have fork gaiters, and by the looks of it, they are mechanically no different to the regular Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650.
Thus, the bikes draw power from a 648cc parallel-twin engine that is tuned to produce 47 HP and 52 Nm of peak torque. It is teamed to a 6-speed gearbox.
The Royal Enfield ‘120 Year Edition’ models will be available in India via an online sale set to happen on 6th December, 2021. Registrations on the company’s website are underway.
With the 650 twins having found great acceptance in India, limited edition versions of them should sell in the blink of an eye. But, Enfield has not revealed the prices of the models yet.
