After Mumbai, Delhi Gets Its First Drive-In COVID-19 Vaccination Centre At Dwarka

After Mumbai, the national capital will get its first drive-through vaccination centre at the Aakash Healthcare Super Specialty Hospital in Dwarka. Akash Healthcare will innoculate everyone in the age group of 18-44 age group at the and jabs will be given from 9 am to 5 pm. To avoid the rush on road, they plan to go slow at the start and administer 40 to 50 doses for the initial few days.

Dadar Gets Mumbai’s First Drive-In Vaccination Centre
While many above 45 years got inoculated in the last month in Mumbai, a lot of senior citizens have been waiting for their turn to get vaccinated in a densely-populated city like Mumbai. Sure, BMC has the best arrangements in the vaccination centers, the crowd is inevitable. The long queue and the wait make the entire process painful for the senior citizens and the specially-abled. To make life easy, BMC started operations of Mumbai’s first drive-in vaccination centre in Dadar West on May 4, 2021. The multi-storey Kohinoor parking lot on JK Sawant Marg, near Shivaji Park has been turned into a vaccination centre. Now, Mumbai will get more drive-in vaccination centres that will cater to senior citizens and specially-abled people.

Mumbai To Get More Drive-In Vaccination Centres After Dadar
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had started operations of Mumbai’s first drive-in vaccination centre in Dadar West on May 4, 2021. Now similar centres will come up in other parts of the city as well. The centres will come up on large open grounds like Shivaji Stadium, Brabourne Stadium, Andheri Sports Club ground, Oval Maidan, Cooperage ground, Reliance JIO garden, MCA ground and more, according to BMC. Also, authorities will make temporary shelter arrangements for vaccination staff, ambulance, etc.

The Dadar Parking Lot Will Have Space For 60 To 70 Vehicles
This vaccination centre at Dadar West offers a drive-in facility to senior citizens and specially-abled citizens. The facility can inoculate up to 5,000 people per day across seven booths. Two of these booths are reserved for drive-ins. The parking lot has enough space for 60 to 70 vehicles to queue up for the two booths.

The Drive-In Facility Will Ensure Physical Distancing
A registration stall will also be set up. However, the beneficiaries will be registered by staff at the centre as they wait in the queue. BMC tweeted , “Drive In Facility For 45+ specially-abled. @mybmcWardGN has started a new vaccination centre at Kohinoor Parking Lot, JK Sawant Marg, Dadar(W), for 45+ citizens coming for their 2nd dose of #Covishield Starts at 10 am tomorrow & has 7 vaccination rooms. #VaccinationForAll.”

Senior Citizens Can Spend The 30-Minute Observation Period In Their Vehicles
Please note that the facility will cater to senior citizens and specially-abled people only. After getting the shot, they can spend the 30-minute mandatory observation period in their vehicles. The drive-in facility will help cater to physical distancing as well. The BMC also plans to place blowers and large fans to ensure there is adequate ventilation. Besides, an ambulance would be stationed at the facility too.

Please note citizens bringing their vehicles will have to pay a parking charge of ₹60 per hour.
