Air India Ordered To Refund All Cancelled Tickets In 21 Days

Air India has now been instructed by the Supreme Court to pay of the credit shells to the passengers.

As we all know, the Supreme Court had instructed the Ministry of Civil Aviation to clear all the credit sales and make sure that refund has been processed to the passengers.

Air India Instructed By Supreme Court To Refund Tickets To Passengers
The total amount that Air India has to clear in the form of credit shells has amounted to around Rs. 2000 crore. The national carrier owes this amount to about 5,25,000 passengers.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation was instructed to clear all the credit shells and refund the passengers by the deadline of March 31 by the Supreme Court of India. As per an official of MoCA, only GoAir and Indigo have been the ones to submit their undertaking to the ministry and clear off all their credit shells to the passengers.

The MoCAhas also expressed dissatisfaction over the other airline companies who have failed to refund their passengers.

Air India has come up with a new process to be followed by the passengers who are claiming a refund. It has also been published on the airline’s website.

The national carrier has also tweeted about the refund process where it says that the passengers who have issued tickets through Air India website should Get the refund by clicking Air India Manage Booking

The passengers have also been asked to input their details on Feedback – Air India In case of tickets that have been booked through the Air India website or mobile app without a life booking

The airline has also stated that they will be processing the refund within 21 working days.

If tickets have been booked through travel agents the airline has directed them to process the refund and remit the amount to the passengers at the earliest

As per Air India, “The process of refund of tickets issued by travel agents is open. The travel agents have been advised to expedite the refund of tickets up to lock-down period on priority and remit the amount to passengers at the earliest.

As per reports, Air India has already cleared almost Rs.1000 crore from April 1, 2020 till today’s date in India. Also, all the queries related to refunds from passengers are also being addressed by the airline through the social media platforms.
