Linda Yaccarino Named CEO of AI Health Tech Startup eMed
Former X chief to lead company’s expansion into GLP-1 patient care
From social media to health tech
Linda Yaccarino, former CEO of X (formerly Twitter) and longtime advertising executive at NBCUniversal, is taking the helm at eMed Population Health as its new chief executive. The AI-driven health tech platform is pivoting from its COVID-19 testing roots to focus on GLP-1 medications like Ozempic, used for both weight management and type 2 diabetes treatment.
Yaccarino spent two years at X, where she worked alongside Elon Musk to stabilize the platform’s ad revenue model, despite the company’s reduced approach to content moderation. While she has no direct background in health tech, eMed cited her “undeniable ability to negotiate new partnerships” and her high-profile status in the tech sector as key reasons for her appointment.
eMed’s evolving mission
Founded as a platform to guide users through at-home COVID-19 antigen testing, eMed is now building tools to help patients manage GLP-1 therapies more effectively. The company says its goal is to improve healthcare outcomes globally by combining AI technology with accessible patient support systems.
Yaccarino’s vision for the role
In a statement, Yaccarino emphasized the need for bold leadership in the healthcare industry:
“To be a leader in today’s healthcare marketplace, companies need to have a fearless tenacity that allows them to not only grow, but to also be brave enough to step forward and redefine an entire industry… We are very well-positioned to be that tenacious leader, striving toward our ultimate goal of improving global healthcare outcomes through our groundbreaking services and platforms.”
With her track record in strategic partnerships and brand-building, Yaccarino is expected to help eMed expand its reach, attract industry collaborations, and navigate the fast-evolving GLP-1 market.
