FirstCry Subsidiary GlobalBees Faces INR 65 Cr Insolvency Plea Amid Executive Exodus
GlobalBees Brands, a key material subsidiary of FirstCry parent Brainbees Solutions, is facing an insolvency petition at the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) for an alleged financial default amounting to INR 64.92 Cr, excluding interest.
Who Filed the Insolvency Plea?
Three individuals — Ashutosh Garg, Paritosh Garg, and Manju Agarwal — have filed the plea under Section 7 of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), 2016, which pertains to financial creditor-led insolvency for default in debt repayment.
- The claim relates to dues from May 9, 2025, onward, with 18% annual interest accruing until actual repayment.
- These individuals were shareholders in Kuber Mart Industries, in which GlobalBees acquired a 74% stake in December 2021.
GlobalBees Responds to Insolvency Threat
In a regulatory filing, Brainbees stated that GlobalBees is “actively seeking appropriate legal advice” to oppose the insolvency application, while the financial implications remain uncertain and dependent on the outcome of the proceedings.
Strategic, Financial, and Governance Challenges
The insolvency plea comes amid a string of top-level exits and governance challenges for GlobalBees:
- CEO Nitin Agarwal resigned in April 2025
- CBO Damandeep Soni exited in August 2024
- SVP Mohit Saxena and category head Abhishek Biswas also left earlier this year
- Three board directors, including reps from Lightspeed, Chiratae Ventures, and Premji Invest, stepped down due to access to unpublished price-sensitive information (UPSI) from parent company Brainbees
Despite these setbacks, Brainbees continues to support GlobalBees, having infused INR 73 Cr in April, as part of a larger INR 146 Cr capital plan to support its acquisition-led growth strategy.
About GlobalBees

- Portfolio brands include The Clownfish, andMe, and Candes Technology
- Backed by SoftBank and Lightspeed, GlobalBees has raised over $175 Mn to date
What’s Next?
While the insolvency petition raises concerns over financial governance, the ongoing capital infusions suggest Brainbees is not backing away from the GlobalBees bet. However, with executive churn and board instability, the subsidiary’s ability to navigate this legal challenge could significantly impact FirstCry’s broader omnichannel strategy.
