With fresh backing from IvyCap Ventures and others, Rusk Media aims to build new IPs and expand its mobile-first digital entertainment formats to global markets.
INR 103 Cr Series B to Fuel Global Expansion
Rusk Media, a mobile-first digital entertainment startup, has raised INR 103 Cr in a Series B funding round, comprising both primary and secondary transactions.
- The round was led by IvyCap Ventures, with participation from LC Nueva, InfoEdge Ventures, Woori Venture Partners, and the startup’s promoters and family.
- Funds will be deployed to create new IPs, scale existing content, and expand into the US, Europe, and EMEA markets.
“This investment will help us build newer IPs and grow our micro-dramas viewership on the Alright TV app,” said Mayank Yadav, cofounder and CEO.
From Delhi to the World: Rusk’s Global Vision
Founded in 2019, Delhi-NCR-based Rusk Media produces GenZ-targeted content under multiple sub-brands:
- Alright! – Fictional, micro-drama content
- Playground – A gaming entertainment IP
- LIT – Food, fashion, and travel storytelling
Rusk has built a strong digital footprint, claiming:
- Over 20 Mn subscribers
- 1 Bn+ monthly views across YouTube, social media, and OTT platforms like Amazon miniTV, JioCinema, and JioHostar
With the new funds, Rusk plans to amplify its OTT collaborations, enhance original content production, and tap into the global GenZ audience, starting with English-speaking and diaspora-heavy regions.
Strategic Backers & Previous Funding
The latest fundraise follows earlier backing from marquee investors:
- Nazara Technologies via Nodwin Gaming,
- Info Edge Ventures, and
- Seoul-based DAOL Investment and Audacity Ventures, who led Rusk’s $9.5 Mn extended Series A round in 2022
This time, Woori Venture Partners, IDBI Capital, and Yashaa Global Capital were also part of the funding mix — as revealed in March’s regulatory filings.
Competitive Landscape: A Crowded But Growing Arena
Rusk Media operates in India’s creator economy and digital content space, competing with:
- ScoopWhoop (sold to WLDD for INR 20 Cr)
- TVF, FilterCopy, and other storytelling-first platforms
While these competitors also cater to youth audiences, Rusk stands out with a multi-format IP strategy and a strong foothold in gaming entertainment.
The content platform is also pushing deeper into OTT integrations, making it a strong play for brands looking to target GenZ viewers outside traditional media.
Market Potential: Digital Media Set for Explosive Growth
India’s media and entertainment sector is on an upswing:
- Expected to grow from $27.9 Bn in 2023 to $44.2 Bn by 2028, per Statista
- Growth driven by digital media, gaming & esports, OTT content, and the rise of GenAI-powered content tools
Platforms like Rusk are well-positioned to ride this wave, offering mobile-first storytelling tailored for short attention spans and digital-native preferences.
What’s Next for Rusk Media?
- Strengthen IP creation across drama, lifestyle, and gaming
- Grow the Alright TV app into a standalone destination
- Expand global presence, especially in English-speaking and diaspora-heavy markets
- Increase revenue from branded content, creator partnerships, and OTT licensing deals
The startup is also likely to explore merchandising, licensing, and gamified entertainment to extend the life of its digital IPs.
