The multi-year partnership will combine Palantir’s AI platforms with Lumen’s digital infrastructure to offer real-time enterprise solutions at scale
A $200M AI Bet on the Enterprise Edge
Palantir and Lumen Technologies have entered a multi-year strategic partnership that will see the telecom giant invest more than $200 million in Palantir’s AI technology, according to Bloomberg. The goal: deliver AI-powered enterprise services that combine Palantir’s platforms with Lumen’s broadband and edge computing infrastructure.
“We’re empowering businesses to reinvent how they operate, compete, and grow,” said Kate Johnson, CEO of Lumen.
Foundry + AIP Meet Edge Infrastructure
The partnership integrates Palantir Foundry and its Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP) with Lumen’s:
- Edge computing systems
- Fiber and broadband infrastructure
- Enterprise-grade digital tools
The companies say this collaboration will unlock faster, real-time insights and decision-making for large enterprises by avoiding costly and slow data lake migrations.
A Telecom’s AI-Powered Transformation
Lumen, formerly known as CenturyLink, has been on a mission to shed its traditional telco image and reemerge as a tech infrastructure provider. The company first began “collaborating” with Palantir in 2023 to overhaul its own internal systems across:
- Operations
- Finance
- Technology workflows
According to Lumen spokesperson Joe Goode, the early use of Palantir’s software helped the company cut $350 million in costs in 2025, contributing to its broader goal of reducing $1 billion in expenses by 2027.
“Palantir’s Foundry and AIP unlocked our data faster and cheaper than traditional methods,” Goode said.
This success formed the foundation of the new commercial deal, which will now extend these AI solutions to external enterprise customers.
Palantir’s Aggressive Industry Push
The Lumen deal marks Palantir’s 19th partnership in 2025, expanding its footprint across:
- Aviation
- Healthcare
- Telecommunications
- Defense
- Contract and data management
Palantir’s strategy has been clear: embed its AI stack into real-world business operations to drive operational efficiencies, reduce costs, and power digital transformation.
What’s at Stake for Both Companies
For Lumen, the partnership helps it:
- Reposition itself as a next-gen AI-enabled infrastructure provider
- Monetize its vast network and edge capabilities
- Gain a competitive edge in the evolving telecom-tech convergence space
For Palantir, it further validates:
- The enterprise applicability of its AI tools
- Its value proposition in rapid data unlocks
- Its ability to drive cost savings at scale
