Physis Capital Eyes $50 Mn Fund Close with Diverse Startup Investments

Physis Capital, a venture capital firm launched in 2022, is on track to close its first fund at $50 million, with expectations for the final close in the next six to nine months.

Focus on Early-Stage Startups Across Multiple Sectors

The Physis Capital Fund targets 15 to 20 startups operating in sectors such as:

  • Fintech
  • SaaS
  • Enterprise tech
  • Edtech
  • Deeptech
  • Logistics

The firm is particularly focused on startups in the Pre-Series A to Series B stage, committing $1-1.5 million initially, with the option for follow-up investments ranging from $1 to $4 million in high-performing companies.

Investment Pipeline and Recent Deals

The firm has already invested in three startups, including:

  • CTPL, an edtech platform
  • Ben & Gaws, a steel fabrication solutions company
  • STAGE, a regional language OTT platform

Vinay Bansal, General Partner at Physis Capital, mentioned that the firm has eight deals in the pipeline, with 3-4 expected to close in the next two quarters. These investments span diverse sectors, including healthtech, fintech, consumer brands, and quick commerce.

A Growing Venture Capital Landscape in India

Physis Capital’s efforts come at a time when several India-focused venture funds are being launched. According to Indian Tech Startup Funding Report, the first quarter of 2025 saw the launch of 23 funds with a collective corpus of $3.2 billion. Notable funds launched this year include:

  • Accel Capital Fund VIII ($650 million)
  • Avendus Fund III ($350 million, plus a greenshoe option of INR 1,500 Cr)
  • Bessemer Venture Partners’ second India-focused fund ($350 million target)

Physis Capital’s Approach to Startup Support

Beyond capital, Physis Capital also offers technical, operational, and strategic mentorship to its portfolio companies, helping them scale and navigate growth challenges.
