With MONT FLEX, Samsung sets a new standard for foldable OLEDs—just as competitors, including Apple, prepare to enter the foldable race.
A Strategic Move in the Foldable Era
As Samsung launches its 7th generation foldable phones, it’s also laying the groundwork for the future of foldable displays. Introducing MONT FLEX OLED—a new brand identity from Samsung Display that redefines the company’s vision for foldable screen technology.
Set to debut at the K-Display 2025 Exhibition (Aug 7–9), MONT FLEX marks a significant leap in Samsung’s efforts to own not just the foldable device market, but the foldable display innovation space itself.
What is MONT FLEX?
The name MONT FLEX is derived from the French word “mont” meaning mountain, symbolizing strength, elevation, and endurance—core values Samsung aims to reflect in its next-gen OLEDs.
Each letter in MONT represents a distinct strength of the display:
- M – Mechanically durable:
Built to withstand rigorous folding, offering top-tier reliability. - O – Opto-mechanically flat:
Designed for minimal crease visibility while maintaining vibrant display quality. - N – Narrow bezels:
Maximizes screen-to-body ratio, giving users more immersive visuals. - T – Thin and lightweight:
Enhances portability without compromising durability.
This branding effort aims to more effectively communicate the advantages of Samsung’s foldable OLEDs to both consumers and industry partners.
Built for the Galaxy Z Fold 7—and Beyond
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is already equipped with Samsung Display’s latest MONT FLEX OLED. Independent testing shows the screen can endure 500,000 folds, doubling the durability of early foldable models.
Samsung is also live-streaming a durability test where the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is being folded 200,000 times, showcasing real-time resilience and transparency.
Timing That Aligns with Apple’s Entry
Samsung’s move comes just as Apple is rumored to enter the foldable phone space in 2026, reportedly using Samsung-made OLED displays. The introduction of MONT FLEX is not just about rebranding—it’s a preemptive strike to solidify Samsung’s thought leadership in foldable display technology before competition intensifies.
By establishing a dedicated foldable OLED identity, Samsung Display aims to:
- Differentiate its tech superiority in the B2B space.
- Elevate brand recognition among premium consumers.
- Strengthen partnerships with OEMs—including potential rivals.
A Foldable Future Reinforced by MONT FLEX
Samsung’s OLED dominance is well-established, but with MONT FLEX, the company is taking a marketing-savvy and innovation-driven approach to claim long-term dominance in the foldable revolution.
Whether it’s durability, design elegance, or display clarity, MONT FLEX is being positioned as the gold standard in foldable OLEDs—making Samsung not just a manufacturer, but a trendsetter in the foldable display ecosystem.
