ZeroDrift, an AI compliance startup, has raised $10 million in seed funding to expand a platform designed to monitor and correct problematic responses generated by artificial intelligence systems.
The round included backing from a16z Speedrun, Reign Ventures, Pitchdrive, and U&I Ventures.
The company focuses on a growing challenge for businesses deploying AI: keeping models from producing answers that could create legal or compliance risks.
A guardrail between AI and users
ZeroDrift’s software sits between AI models and end users.
When a response raises a compliance issue, the system flags it and generates a revised version.
Chief Executive Kumesh Aroomoogan said the process begins with conventional software rather than another language model.
Those programs apply established standards, including:

- GDPR
Only after a potential violation is detected does a large language model step in to rewrite the message.
“We’re able to identify, deterministically, what are all the regulated areas, what’s the violation that’s being broken, and then we have LLMs that can do the rewrites,” Aroomoogan told TechCrunch.
Speed and reliability
ZeroDrift said its approach offers lower latency and greater reliability than relying solely on a conventional large language model.
The company sees that as an advantage over AI providers such as:

Those companies often supply the underlying models used by customers.
Beyond chatbots
Consumer-facing chatbots are the clearest application for the technology, where inaccurate or inappropriate responses can have serious consequences.
Aroomoogan, however, expects the market to extend much further.
He said AI-generated messages exchanged within automated systems could also require oversight, even when humans never see those interactions.
While that market remains small, he expects demand to grow as AI adoption expands.
Funding round closed in weeks
Aroomoogan said investor interest in the company was strong.
According to him, the seed round was completed in about three weeks.
He said Andreessen Horowitz helped organize the financing.
“It was probably the fastest fundraising I’ve done in my life,” Aroomoogan said.
“We closed within three weeks, and we will be oversubscribed by 3x on the amount.”
