This Billion Dollar Indian Startup Bans All Work Related Chats After 6PM

During the times, when work has moved into our homes, with all the distress and negativity caused by pandemics, it has become really crucial to strike a balance between work and our personal lives.

No Restrictions In Woking Hours Causing Stress
For most of the employees, there are no time restrictions when it comes to working from home.

Which in turn is causing stress with all the work from the office and home.

So now, several companies are trying to find ways to ease the workload on their employees.

Zerodha’s Initiative For Restricting Working Hour Discussions
Considering the same, the Co-founder and CEO, Zerodha, Nithin Kamath tweeted that the fintech unicorn would refrain from having work-related conversations post 6 pm.

Further, said, “At Zerodha, we have just killed all work-related chats post 6 pm and holidays. Also trying to get as many conversations to be asynchronous, moving them from chat to our internal instance of Discourse. Curious to see if this helps reduce the feeling of burnt out and brain-fried,”.

Kamath said, “Apparently, multitasking hurts performance and may even damage the brain. Being part of multiple discussions on different topics in different chat groups simultaneously (multitasking) has gone up exponentially post WFH,”.

Other Firms Initiatives To Reduce Stress
During the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the other companies and startups are also coming up with similar kinds of policies to ease the workload on their employees.

for instance, the foodtech unicorn Swiggy had already announced its plans to move to a four-day workweek in light of the increasing number of cases.

With this initiative, the Swiggy employees also have an option to choose the days they can rest in the week.

At the same time, the Google CEO, Sundar Pichai has also come up with the ‘hybrid work,’ model.

In his email, he said that the employees should focus on their own health and on the well-being of their loved ones.

Apart from that he also announced that Google will be moving to a more flexible work week and a hybrid working model.

He added, “I hope the extra benefits such as carer’s leave, work-from-home allowance, extra reset days, and the ability to work from wherever you need have helped get through this tough time.”
