There’s no denying the fact that our college is very dear to each one of us and occupies a special place in our hearts! After all, if we were given an option to time-travel back to the good old days of mass bunks, canteen parties, and classroom lectures, we would have set off to the journey this instant!
While we know that education and faculty play an important role in deciding the ranking of colleges and universities nationwide, even the campus’ architecture, facilities, and location act as catalysts in the same!
So on that note, we thought of curating a list compiling the most beautiful colleges in India that has put us (and possibly you too) in regret for not completing education from there! 1) IIM, Kozhikode
Located in Kerala’s Calicut is the beautiful Indian Institute of Management (IIM) that also happens to be one of the most sought-after colleges in the country! The campus spreads across 111 acres on twin hills which are a part of the Western Ghats. Scenic mountain views in the backdrop, soul-satisfying greenery around, and the striking infrastructure it harbours are a few of the many notable attributes that make this institution truly outstanding! The campus houses 17 hostels and accommodates over 900 students, giving us an idea of how spacious it is! Not just that, it also has an in-house museum for its students which comprises contributions by legendary business leaders and more! When drenched in rain, this college atop a hillock is a sight to behold!
2) Forest Research Institute, Dehradun
Founded back in 1868 and becoming one of India’s most iconic colleges today, the Forest Research Institute in Dehradun is beyond just being beautiful! Built over 450 acres of land, with the Himalayan range showing up in the background, the architecture of this popular institution features colonial styles. In fact, you’ll be surprised to know that it was recorded in the Guinness Book of Records for a very long time as the largest purely brick structure in the world! Well, that says a lot, doesn’t it? The campus houses a library, herbarium, museum, arboreta, and plenty of labs and research fields, which makes it one of our favourites too!

3) ISB, Hyderabad
esides its remarkable academic programmes, the Indian School of Business (ISB) also garners much love and attention for its alluring campus! It was established back in 2001 and has been designed by Vikram Lall who has several exceptional landmarks to his credit including the Akshardham Temple in Delhi. It spreads across 260 acres of verdant land and houses an academic centre, recreation centre, and four student villages in which over 150 students could be accommodated. In fact, Vivek Agnihotri’s autobiography film ‘Buddha In A Traffic Jam’, starring Anupam Kher and Arunoday Singh in the lead, has been 80% shot at this beautiful campus in Hyderabad!
4) Jaypee University of Information & Technology, Himachal Pradesh
Built on a hilltop in Himachal Pradesh, Jaypee University of Information & Technology (JUIT) can easily make you fall in love with its picturesque campus if you happen to be someone who’s fond of mountains! The campus spans across 25 acres on the green slopes of Waknaghat and stands at a whopping elevation of 1550 metres and looks breathtakingly beautiful when the clouds surround and cover its top-most peak! The tranquillity of the environment and the lush landscapes around add on to the growth and development of the students, making sure that they don’t just absorb knowledge but some freshness as well!
5) IIT Roorkee
At first, you may feel it’s a museum or a hotel but what you see above is a college that’s usually on the radar of every aspiring engineer! Featuring spellbinding white buildings standing completely soaked in lush and grandiose, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Roorkee is one of the popular names when it comes to the most beautiful colleges in India! This institution was established back in 1847 as the ‘College of Civil Engineering’ and spreads across an area of 365 acres. The architecture looks quite awe-striking and instantly makes its way to our heart, doesn’t it?
6) St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai
When you discover that this college has been featured in many blockbuster Bollywood films including ‘Main Hoon Na’, ‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’, and ‘Rockstar’, you know there has to be something outstanding about its appearance! St. Xavier’s College in Mumbai possesses Indo-Gothic architecture, stands on 2.94 acres of land, and has been recognised as a heritage structure by the Mumbai Heritage Conservation Committee. Besides classrooms, it houses a spacious auditorium, a canteen, prayer hall, sports fields and courts, libraries, audio-visual centres, and much more that makes this institution worth all the hype! While we introduced it with the films that have been shot here, for the conclusion we have the names of a few who’s who of India including Salman Khan, Neerja Bhanot, Zakir Hussain, Anil Kapoor, Azim Premji, Freida Pinto, and Vidya Balan that have graduated from here. 7) BITS Pilani, Goa
Situated on the banks of Zuari River in Goa, BITS Pilani has been designed by the RSP Design Group. The college comprises a BCCI-recognised cricket ground which is maintained by the Goa Cricket Association, a football ground maintained by the Salgaocar F.C, and other sports courts that feature state-of-the-art facilities and arrangements. It houses a whopping 4,000 students in its three hostels collectively, giving us an idea of its spacious establishment. The lush lawns with sprawling flowerbeds simply add on to its scenic beauty, offering onlookers a view to capture during their traverse across the beach destination.
8) Govind Ballabh Pant Engineering College, Uttarakhand
Gear up to catch some stunning views of the Himalayas when and if you plan you to visit/study from Govind Ballabh Pant Engineering College in Uttarakhand. This institution is situated in Pauri Garhwal which is a city in the Shivalik range. From here, you can easily spot the snow-capped Himalayan mountains of Nandadevi & Trisul, Neelkath, Kedarnath, Satopanth, Chaukhamba, Sumeru, and more! The campus has six canteens, a gymnasium and sports complex, a cricket and a football ground, large dining mess, an in-house multi-cuisine restaurant, an airstrip, two shopping centres, and residential facilities for students, faculty, and staff members. Pearl Academy in Jaipur has been awarded the ‘Best Learning Building’ at the World Architecture Festival Award (Barcelona, 2009) for its outstanding and state-of-the-art establishment. It was set up back in 1993 and has ever since been celebrated as one of India’s best design institutions. The popularity of this college is to the extent that labels like Walt Disney, Manish Malhotra, UCB, Myntra, and Yash Raj Films come to their campus for recruiting budding fashion designers! 13) NIT, Hamirpur
Standing at an altitude of 900 metres above the sea level, the National Institute of Technology in Himachal Pradesh’s Hamirpur area has a beautiful campus! It is located on a hilly terrain that’s replete with pine trees and spawns across 320 acres! As a matter of fact, according to the MHRD Survey, it is the second most beautiful engineering institute in the country! As it also offers residential facilities, it has 12 hostels in totality including eight for boys and four for girls! In fact, you’ll be surprised to know that the popular Indian cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Naresh Trehan is one of its notable alumni! 17) Fergusson College, Pune
Fergusson College in Pune is another beautiful institution on our list!
