I’m a sucker for a good thriller/environmental horror, and Don’t Breathe right up my alley. Although I didn’t watch it initially when it came out in 2016 and chanced upon it much later, it still stood the test of time and lived up to its hype. A blind man with super sense, a brutal house invasion, and invaders, the face-off. What’s not to love? I cannot believe that just when I thought things couldn’t get any better, the makers are back with a bang, and how! With a sequel dropping in the theatre’s soo, that’s how. That’s right, Don’t Breathe 2 is here, and so is Stephen Lang’s Norman Nordstrom.
The next film is set in the years following the initial deadly home invasion, where Norman Nordstrom lives in quiet solace except with a small girl with who he has presumably given shelter. In his way, he is also training her in combat, but things turn awry when history repeats itself and his past sins catch up to him. The official synopsis reads, “He has been hiding out for several years in an isolated cabin and has taken in and raised a young girl orphaned from a devastating house fire. Their quiet life together is shattered when a group of criminals kidnap the girl, forcing the Blind Man to leave the hiding to save her.” Watch the trailer here.
The grisly and bloody film also stars Brendan Sexton III and Madelyn Grace. It is directed by Rodo Sayagues, who had written the first part. Along with Don’t Breathe director Fede Alvarez, he has also written the screenplay. If their earlier collaboration is anything to go by, the viewers are in for a thrilling ride yet again!
Don’t Breathe 2 will release in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu simultaneously and is scheduled to hit the theatres in August 2021.
