Many a meme has been inspired by HBO’s Euphoria’s messy second season.
People have been taking to Twitter and TikTok every Sunday night to react to the latest episode of the intense teen drama, which has led to a lot of memes. But nothing has captured the zeitgeist quite like Maddy’s zinger in the third episode.
Cassie is seconds away from a Nate-fueled mental breakdown in the girls’ bathroom, which has manifested itself in her gingham attire choice. Her friends mistakenly think she is dressed up to audition for the drama club’s production of Oklahoma, which leads to a near meltdown and confusion. Maddy tells Cassie that she’s dressed “like a country music star,” and Cassie asks, “In a good or bad way?”
One of the funniest scenes this season is Maddy responding with, “Bitch, you better be joking.” It provides some much-needed levity to the episode.
A Maddy moment made even more incredible by Alexa Demie’s unflinching delivery and incredulous stare. Her voice can convey a scoff, raised eyebrow, and an eye roll. The screenshot has been turned into a meme by Twitter users, who altered the text and image of Maddy and Kat to apply to other TV shows, movies, and songs.
