It’s time to get this over with! Money Heist is easily one of the most-watched/binged non-English series. Its original series, La Casa de Papel, had already seen four successful seasons before returning for a fifth thanks to its fandom.
With newer twists and never-ending escapades, the gang, minus a few beloved characters, ended the Spanish drama’s fourth installment with a bang at the Royal Mint of Spain that sent loyalists over the moon. I turned into someone who never watched before, and I had no idea how to stop. And now fans, including yours honestly, are waiting for the final installment, which will be intense and nail-biting going by the teaser!
In fact, we have a new clip at hand, and it has gotten tongues wagging about the ‘final checkmate’ that awaits The Professor, who can be seen tied up in chains. If you remember, inspector Alicia Sierra had managed to nab him at his hideout, among other things, towards the end of the fourth season. And it sure seems like makers are picking right where they left because Sierra has held the chain on the other hand. That’s not all; it has also come with the trailer release date. Watch it here.
August 2 it is!
The show’s synopsis reads, “The gang has been shut in the Bank of Spain for over 100 hours. They have managed to rescue Lisbon, but their darkest moment is upon them after losing one of their own. The Professor has been captured by Sierra and, for the first time, doesn’t have an escape plan. Just when it seems like nothing else could go wrong, an enemy comes on the scene that is much more powerful than any they’ve faced: the army. The end of the greatest heist in history is approaching, and what began as a robbery will turn into a war.”
If you don’t know already, Season 5 will have two parts releasing in September and December, marking the reunion of Professor Marquina (Álvaro Morte) and his gang of criminals. While many of the main characters, including Tokyo/Oliveira (Úrsula Corbero), Aníbal/Rio (Miguel Herrán) Mirko/Helsinki (Darko Peric), Denver/Daniel (Jaime Lorente), Arturo (Enrique Arce), and Mónica/Stockholm (Esther Acebo) are returning, Patrick Criado and Angel Silvestre will be joining the cast. There will also be some flashbacks, so fans can expect some more nostalgia.
Money Heist Season 5 will release in two volumes – Volume 1 on September 3 and volume 2 on December 3, 2021.
