Sourav Ganguly Confirms Biopic In Work; Ranbir Kapoor’ Hot Choice’ To Play The Part

There’s nothing like a Bollywood biopic! It has become profitable and bankable because it has tapped into many viewers who can’t resist an underdog story.

Biopics have succeeded in establishing a genre for themselves and all the right reasons when they feature the life of a beloved sports figure such as Dangal or M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story. Another excellent example is Shabaash Mithu, the biopic of Mithali Raj–the women’s cricket team captain–led by Taapsee Pannu.

I am happy to report that the line-up includes both the present and the golden glory days when Dada ruled the pitch. Sourav Ganguly, the current BCCI President and former cricketer will be the subject of a biopic. Although there have been countless rumors about the same that have surfaced numerous times, Ganguly has confirmed the big news. In response to news 18’s questions, Ganguly said, “Yes, I have agreed to the film. It will be in Hindi, but the name of the director cannot be revealed yet. It will take a few more days to arrange everything.”

Guess who is in the running to play the living legend? Ranbir Kapoor’s hot choice! Several details are still unknown about the biopic, but he is reportedly up against two more Bollywood stars. Still, Ganguly is keen on Kapoor, who has been almost confirmed for the role. A big production house is financing the biopic, which is expected to cost between Rs 200 and Rs 250 crores.

The script is still being developed, but the studio is constantly in touch with the man of the moment. Is there going to be an official announcement? We are as good as you at guessing! Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor, who was last seen in Sanju, will return soon with Shamshera. While not much is known about the Karan Malhotra film, one looks forward to seeing Kapoor pair with Vaani Kapoor and alongside Sanjay Dutt in crucial roles.
