How to Program GE Universal Remote with Codes

To program your remote using a code:

  1. Turn on your TV or the device you want to control.
  2. Press and hold the Setup button on your GE remote until the red light stays on.
  3. Press the device button (TV, DVD, etc.).
  4. Enter the programming code for your device (see code list below).
  5. The red light will turn off—test the remote.
  • If it doesn’t work, repeat the process with the next code for your brand.

How to Program GE Universal Remote Without Codes

If you don’t have the code handy, follow these steps:

  1. Power on your TV.
  2. Hold the Setup button until the red light stays on.
  3. Press the TV button.
  4. Press and release the Power button every 5 seconds until the TV turns off.
  5. Turn the TV back on manually.
  6. Press and release the Channel Up button every 3 seconds until the TV turns off again.
  7. Press the TV button to save the programming.
