Index Sleep Monitor by Garmin Tracks Sleep, HRV, and Ovulation from the Upper Arm

Garmin Launches Index Sleep Monitor for Upper Arm Tracking at $170
Comfort-Focused Wearable Offers In-Depth Sleep Metrics, Smart Alarm, and Women’s Health Insights

Sleep Tracking, Reimagined

Garmin has unveiled the Index Sleep Monitor, a dedicated upper-arm wearable priced at $169.99, designed for advanced sleep tracking without the discomfort of wrist-based devices.

  • Available in two sizes (S-M and L-XL), it begins shipping in July, with estimated delivery in 3–5 weeks.

Key Features and Metrics

The Index Sleep Monitor captures a wide array of sleep and health metrics, including:

  • Sleep stages (REM, light, deep)
  • Heart rate variability (HRV)
  • Pulse Ox (blood oxygen saturation)
  • Skin temperature, body movement, and breathing rate
  • Delivers a personalized sleep score based on nightly data

Garmin also includes Body Battery energy tracking, respiration trends, and stress analysis for a holistic view of rest and recovery.

Smart Alarm and Women’s Health

A vibration-based smart alarm wakes users during lighter sleep stages, offering gentler, less disruptive wake-ups.

  • Women’s health tracking is enhanced with skin temperature-based predictions for menstrual and ovulation cycles, viewable via Garmin Connect.

Comfort and Integration

  • The wearable uses a soft, breathable Velcro strap and lacks a display or buttons, focusing on overnight comfort.
  • It connects to the Garmin Connect app on Android and iOS, integrating with other Garmin devices to deliver unified health data.

Battery and Availability

  • Offers up to 7 nights of battery life per charge
  • Now available through Garmin’s website and retail partners
