Samsung Galaxy Watch’s Sleep Apnea Feature Expands to 34 EU Nations, Australia, and Singapore

Health-focused wearable tech now supports sleep apnea detection in 70 global markets

Galaxy Watch Sleep Apnea Monitoring Goes Global

Samsung has officially expanded its Sleep Apnea detection feature to 34 new countries across the EU, along with Australia and Singapore, increasing its reach to a total of 70 countries worldwide.

  • The feature, accessible through the Samsung Health Monitor app, allows Galaxy Watch users to screen for moderate to severe obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA)—a common but often undiagnosed sleep disorder.

Regulatory Approvals Ensure Safety and Accuracy

This expansion follows key medical certifications:

  • CE marking in the European Union, ensuring compliance with stringent health, safety, and environmental standards
  • Regulatory clearance from Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) and Singapore’s Health Sciences Authority (HSA)
  • Previously, the Sleep Apnea feature also received FDA De Novo authorization in the U.S., marking it as the first wearable feature of its kind to do so.

How It Works

Using your Galaxy Watch while sleeping, the Sleep Apnea feature monitors blood oxygen levels (SpO2) and tracks sleep patterns over multiple nights.

  • It alerts users to signs of disrupted breathing during sleep, prompting early discussions with medical professionals to prevent serious health complications.
  • Combined with personalized coaching, the feature is part of Samsung’s mission to deliver comprehensive sleep health via wearable tech.

A Growing Global Footprint

Samsung is now offering this life-enhancing feature in 70 countries, including:

  • Europe: Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, UK, and more
  • Asia-Pacific: Singapore, Australia, South Korea, Vietnam, Philippines
  • Americas: U.S., Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Chile
  • Middle East & Africa: UAE, South Africa, Egypt

“This expansion reinforces Samsung’s leadership in health innovation through wearables,” said a Samsung representative.

How to Activate Sleep Apnea Detection

To start using the feature:

  1. Open the Samsung Health Monitor app
  2. Navigate to the Sleep section
  3. Enable Sleep Apnea detection, which activates overnight monitoring

This tool complements other Galaxy AI wellness features, giving users actionable insights into their sleep quality and overall health.
