Due to the upcoming 1.19 update, also known as “The Wild Update,” 2022 has been a year of anticipation for Minecraft players.
Mojang’s recent snapshots have given players a sneak peek at what they can expect in the upcoming update. Although these implementations have not been fully released, the snapshots provide the closest look at what players can expect.
Due to the lack of significant content updates in 2022 so far, players have been exploring these snapshots to enjoy the new content before it is available in full. Just in these preview builds alone, there are plenty of new implementations to appreciate.
Minecraft: Awesome additions from The Wild Update snapshots
- Boats with Chests
Chest boats allow for a new method of storage and transportation
When traveling in a Minecraft world, it is impossible to have enough storage for your items. With the upcoming 1.19 update, players will be able to add one more method to their list.
Boats with chests will be introduced in version 1.9, just like minecart chests. In this implementation, players can throw their items into a chest and carry them across oceans, rivers, and other bodies of water.
Players will need boats with chests until they get access to shulker boxes later in the game, especially when exploring. By doing so, players can keep their inventory open for other materials and rare finds instead of having excess items in their inventory.
- Mangrove Swamp Biomes
Swamps are receiving added variance thanks to mangrove swamps
Swamp biomes have been suggested as a minor rework for quite some time by Minecraft players.
Fortunately, players have already seen the new mangrove swamp biome in The Wild Update snapshots. Waterlogged, these biomes are populated with above-ground trees. These swamps also contain interesting mobs, such as fireflies and frogs (in addition to standard swamps).
It’s not a huge addition, but it should provide players with some new building locations and block types.
- Echo Shards and Recovery Compasses
The new deep dark biome provides some interesting items
Many Minecraft players have experienced the sting of losing their items upon death and not remembering where to find them again.
Minecraft 1.9 introduces recovery compasses, which direct players to the most recent place they died.
Crafting these compasses requires a compass and echo shards, the latter of which can be found in the new ancient city structures within the deep dark biome.
However, players should know that a recovery compass won’t work if they haven’t died or if they don’t hold it in their hands. Additionally, it will not work if the player is in a different dimension than the one in which they died.
- The Deep Dark Biome and Ancient Cities
Players who want to loot ancient cities will need to keep an eye out for the Warden
In Minecraft’s 1.19 update and its snapshots, the deep dark biome and its ancient cities are among the most exciting new additions.
The deep dark biome is an eerie and unwelcoming location, echoing with screams of the lost and crawling with newfound sculk blocks.
It is possible to find plenty of riches in the forgotten and ancient cities of the deep subterranean biome, but players will have to be careful.
The mighty Warden will be summoned to protect its domain if enough sculk shriekers are disturbed. These mobs can even kill well-equipped players in a few hits, so stealth is encouraged in these new locations.
- New Mobs
New mobs have captured the attention of Minecraft players everywhere
The new mobs in the game are arguably the most exciting feature of the new Wild Update snapshots.
The allay is a friendly mob that carries items for players and enjoys note blocks. Minecraft Live 2021’s mob vote was won by the allay.
There are also tadpoles, which grow into frogs. There are three types of frogs so far, depending on the biome in which they are born.
In addition, there are fireflies, which can be eaten by frogs and are the smallest mobs ever created (one pixel in size).
Last but not least, there is the enigmatic and powerful Warden, protector of the deep dark biome. Players must be wary once the mob is summoned as it will pursue them relentlessly. The players will have to use all of their wits in order to survive the game’s pursuit.
It is possible to kill the Warden, but the mob currently has the most health in the game, even more than the Ender Dragon and the Wither.
Players should exercise extreme caution when dealing with this new creature.
