February 2023 is Currently Looking Like a Huge Month for Gaming

In time for the holiday season, a number of blockbuster games will be released within the next few months, which signals the start of the annual fall gaming rush. Major games are confirmed for release a little beyond the fall window, though, with game companies having already confirmed some significant titles that will launch in early 2023.

Some big games are launching in January 2023, but February 2023 looks to be even more stacked so far. Announcements this past week at Gamescom Opening Night Live and other events have set February 2023 up to be an absolutely massive month for gaming, assuming the games scheduled to release that month aren’t delayed or otherwise fail to live up to expectations. Many games are already confirmed for release in February 2023, though three titles are noteworthy.

GAMERANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

One such game is Dead Island 2, which was first announced all the way back at E3 2014. Dead Island 2 went silent after its reveal at the Sony E3 2014 press conference, trapped in development hell and switching developers multiple times. Dead Island 2 finally reappeared at Gamescom 2022, releasing a cinematic trailer to introduce the new character Jacob and the release date while also showing off the first-ever gameplay footage of the open world zombie action-RPG. Dead Island 2 is confirmed to be launching on February 3 for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.

New Video Game Releases February 2023

  • Deliver Us Mars – February 2
  • Dead Island 2 – February 3
  • Clash: Artifacts of Chaos – February 9
  • Hogwarts Legacy – February 10
  • Wanted: Dead – February 14
  • Destiny 2: Lightfall – February 28
  • Darkest Dungeon 2 – TBA

The big February 2023 releases aren’t slowing down because fans will be treated to the highly-anticipated Hogwarts Legacy a week later. Harry Potter fans have been waiting to play Hogwarts Legacy for years now, and they will finally have their chance come February 10. Those who decide to pre-order the Digital Deluxe Edition of the game or somehow get their hands on the elusive Hogwarts Legacy Collector’s Edition can play three days early on February 7. The game will be available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X at launch, with a Nintendo Switch version to come at a later date.

And finally, gamers will also want to keep an eye on Destiny 2: Lightfall, scheduled to launch on February 28 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Google Stadia. Destiny 2‘s Lightfall expansion will set Bungie’s looter-shooter up for the endgame of its current storyline while also introducing Neptune, new characters, a brand-new campaign, significant quality of life improvements, and much more. It’s set to be one of the most significant expansions in Destiny 2‘s history, and after the positive reception The Witch Queen enjoyed, it will definitely be interesting to see if Lightfall can keep the momentum going.

These three games are joined by various other titles scheduled to launch in February 2023, and many more will likely be announced between now and next year.
