Marvel Rivals Season 1.5 Is Live: The Thing and Human Torch Join the Battle
The Marvel Rivals midseason update has arrived, introducing new heroes, a fresh map, and key balance adjustments. These changes aim to keep the game exciting while refining gameplay. Let’s dive into what’s new with Season 1.5.
New Heroes and Map in Marvel Rivals
Marvel Rivals has brought two new Fantastic Four characters to the game—The Thing and Human Torch—to complement Invisible Woman and Mr. Fantastic, who debuted earlier in Season 1.
- The Thing: A vanguard hero known for his clobbering punches.
- Human Torch: A duelist with flight abilities and the power to combo ultimates with Storm.
- New Map: Central Park is the latest map, adding fresh environments for players to battle in, alongside the earlier Midtown and Doom Match mode.
This midseason update ties into Marvel’s broader media, creating buzz around the upcoming Fantastic Four movie.
Content Roadmap and Future Updates
Marvel Rivals has big plans for the future, including:
- New Heroes: Expect one new hero at the start of each season, and another six weeks later.
- Maps: One to two new maps per season.
- Leaks: There are rumors of future heroes, like Ultron, Emma Frost, and Jean Grey, indicating a solid content roadmap.
This promises eight new heroes and four to eight new maps annually, keeping the game fresh and engaging.
Season 1 Battle Pass
The season 1 pass introduces 10 new costumes, including those for Loki, Wolverine, and Scarlet Witch, based on the Eternal Night theme. The battle pass costs 990 lattice (roughly $10), with the potential to earn back 600 lattice and 600 units (around $12) upon completion.
Balance Adjustments and Changes
The midseason patch targets the triple-strategist compositions, reducing the power of support heroes like Storm, Doctor Strange, and Magneto. The patch also accelerates the availability of duelist and vanguard ultimates.
- Storm: Nerfed to balance her power.
- Doctor Strange and Magneto: Nerfed after dominating the vanguard role.
The developers plan to make major balance changes at the start of new seasons and midseasons, with smaller tactical changes in between to address outliers.
Rank Reset Update
Contrary to initial plans, the rank reset did not occur in this patch. Instead, ranks will be reset every 13 weeks, or with the start of new seasons, to maintain the integrity of the ranked system and avoid player frustration.
Marvel Rivals Season 1.5 Start
