Harry Potter: Hogwarts Legacy is the first major AAA game released in quite a while now set in the Harry Potter universe, and since its accidental announcement a few years ago, fans have been eager to learn more about it. More information is readily available with the game’s first big showcase event at Sony’s State of Play.
Hogwarts Legacy will have a major emphasis on customization, and its pervasiveness is evident in almost every aspect of the game so far. There is no doubt that player housing is a key feature of the game, and the legendary Room of Requirement will play a big role.
It was assumed that features such as Hogwarts Legacy‘s character creation system would be available in the game as soon as Avalanche Software revealed the fact that it would be a sprawling open-world role-playing title. However, what wasn’t quite as obvious was the extent to which the developer would go to let players live out their Hogwarts fantasy truly. The Room of Requirement will be a hub of sheer practicality, where players can fiddle with customizations however they want, but also catch up with crafting, creature management, and more.
Room of Requirement, unlike most other established playable spaces such as the Gryffindor Dorm from Hogwarts Legacy, will be malleable and customizable. Through the use of resources, players can set up a variety of crafting stations and functionality. Though it’s worth pointing out that the Room has a mind of its own and may attempt to assist the player in some unexpected ways.
Hogwarts Legacy’s centaurs, trolls, goblins, and other monsters won’t be easy to defeat, and will require more than simple spell casting. In the Room of Requirement, players will be able to prepare themselves for encounters more thoroughly by harvesting plans and using them to brew unique potions. As for encounters, players can also take advantage of the Room’s Vivarium, a custom-designed holding pen for friendly magical beasts.
Though the Room of Requirement is highly customizable and open, it’s just one aspect of the game’s apparent dedication to letting players live out their Hogwarts dreams. With the Hogwarts Legacy release window confirmed for 2022, no concrete release date is available, and avalanche Studios seems to be sure it’ll have the game out before the end of the year. Therefore, more information should be dropping in over the coming weeks and months.
Hogwarts Legacy is set to release in 2022 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series consoles.
